Connor McCaffery Will Participate in Prestigious NBPA Top 100 Camp

ok, I'll throw some fuel on this. .... :) Whar all the posters that say Connor isn't worthy of a scholly and couldn't play any where he wanted as opposed to Iowa? Is he good? Or do we just THINK he's good because he's Fran's kid? and...ya know Fran doesn't get credit for Connor because 1. he's from Iowa, duh, he was coming here any way amiright ??? and 2. well, it's his kid - his kid shouldn't get scholarship and Fran should pay his way cause he's loaded and it will help the team.

there... that should do it.

Well some say Fran can't recruit. I mean Fran has commitments from a Top 75 kid this year, top 100 next year and 2 top 50 kids in the next two years. I mean he sucks ballz at recruiting don't cha know.

I know you are half joking, and I certainly think Connor has earned a scholarship, however I would say I'm still a little skeptical on him being a big time recruit. Some posters on here have agreed with me, while others many others have disagreed, which is fine, I hope he is a stud.

My concern is that all this hype may end up being a bad thing for the kid. If he doesn't live up to it, the noise will be twice as loud since he is the coaches son.

You don't get invited to this camp if you're not a big time recruit

He committed as a freshman and his dad is the coach

I'm surprised the Pitino's and Roy Williams of the world haven't come calling... Okay it was all a joke. :)

You have your way of evaluating recruits, and I have mine. You are right though, he is in a sense a big time recruit, because of how high he is ranked and his invite to this prestigious camp, so I should rephrase that.

I am of the belief that CM is overrated as a recruit. I'm not sure why, whether it is because of his name or maybe he was better than everyone else when he was in 8th/9th grade, and therefore continues to get ranked above his current talent level. I do not believe he has the foot speed to be a big time guard or even wing at the Big10 level. His shot appears to be improving, however his release is fairly slow, and he doesn't elevate a ton, making it much tougher to get off at the next level. I don't expect him to be a major contributor his freshman year in 2017-2018, which I normally would with a 4-star type recruit. I know I'm in the minority with that opinion, and that's fine, I hope CM proves me wrong.

I officiated a game 2 weeks or so ago and had Connor and I wasn't overly impressed. I think part of it is his game just isn't flashy.

I'm hoping he can just be a solid PG at the college level but don't have high expectations.

I see him playing the 2 more when he gets here. I don't know if he'll every be flashy but could see him being a guy that averages 10 ppg his career and makes all the right plays

With the guys Iowa is recruiting it will be interesting to see if he walks on or not. With the experience Iowa will have at the point guard and off guard positions when he gets to Iowa, I don't see him being a starter for a couple of years, but it remains to be seen.

I'm a little skeptical too. Watching him play at state, he seemed like just another player. I hope he's a point guard because he will at least have height at that position.

U of I basketball recruits from the state of Iowa are to Cyclone fans what super-delegates are to Bernie voters. THEY DON'T COUNT!!
