Congrats to UNI

If Iowa gets in 3. Iowa, Wichita St, Stephen F Austin.
Same amount as Iowa; UNC, Ohio St., & Maryland

UNI's number is stuck on 3. Iowa may get as high as 9...Illinois, Indiana and the conference tournament. That's because Iowa plays quality opponents all season. UNI has probably been spending half of their practice time prepping for the 2 or 3 Wichita State games since the Iowa game. The only time UNI has played 2 quality teams in a row (VCU and Iowa) they went .500.

If UNI gets a 4 or a 5 seed they're playing a 4 or 5 seed in their second game. Current 4/5 seeds are the likes of Baylor, North Carolina, Louisville, Oklahoma, West Virginia, etc. UNI's second game will by far be the best opponent they will have faced the entire season.

If they can't get Ali Farokhmanesh a jersey, they aren't making the sweet 16.

Exactly. UNI's CEILING is 3 opponents. SF Austin will only get in with an AQ. Iowa still might not get in. Its possible that UNI could qualify for the NCAA tournament with a 4 seed having played only one other team that even qualified for the NCAA tournament...which is a very weak and unproven Wichita State team who hasn't beaten any significant team this entire season.

I should clarify that I will cheer for UNI. Fairfax is not representative of UNI fans in general...just a troll. But they haven't proven anything in the regular season. My opinion on how good this year's UNI team was will be determined by how they do in the NCAA Tournament...same with Wichita State. The MVC is so bad this year that it's impossible to get a feel for how good UNI and Wichita State are.

UNI doesnt play a great schedule. On the other hand they really put it to us on a neutral court. They are very well coached and really play well as a team with players knowing their roles. Will they go very far in the tournament? I think they have a decent chance of making the sweet 16 because they play great defense and I expect that to continue.
UNI should not be as good as Iowa and we all know that. Iowa has so many advantages. However clearly this team this year is better than Iowa! In addition clearly they have had more success in the tournament in recent years.
I surely hope we can change that in the future. I would guess losing Tuttle will hurt them next year and they wont be as good. Im not convinced we will be better either. And Im not convinced we will even be in the tournament this year

I agree with the masses in the fact that is hard to judge how good UNI truly is based off of their schedule. I'm not saying they're a bad team, but its hard to compare them with the elites (or even other top 15 programs) based on their resume. Unfortunately I think the only way to get an idea of how good they are will be based on their success in the NCAA tourney, against good/quality teams on a game to game basis.

As I stated earlier, the lowest RPI team in the B1G is Rutgers. Half of the teams in the MVC have a lower RPI than Rutgers and one more is only 8 spots above Rutgers.

They are losing 4 starters. They have 4 guys on their roster that are 6'8" or taller. Two play and two don't - I mean they don't play at all (possibly redshirting?) The two that play are seniors. I agree that next year they won't be as good. Iowa, on the other hand, won't be hurting as much as UNI. Losing White will hurt our rebounding, losing Gabe will hurt our bench, losing Oglesby won't hurt us much. Plus we gain a lot more than UNI in the incoming class.

So what you're saying is enjoy Fairfax while we have him? Point taken.

I can't believe you called Iowa a quality team. At least we can beat Northwestern.

Predict what seed UNI will get in the tournament and how far they will go.

I predict a 4/5 seed for UNI (They will have 4 losses going into selection Sunday). They will probably lose in the first round ala Drake in their "magical" year, but I could see them winning one game, but that is the ceiling for this team. What say you Fairfax?

Iowa will get a 10 seed in the NCAA tournament, and win 1 game.

So basically they will have identical years. Iowa would probably lose 4 games playing UNI's powder puff schedule playing in the MVC. UNI would lose probably 12 or 13 games playing Iowa's schedule and would end up a 10/11 seed.

I hope we get a guaranteed win and get to play iowa. We will be a #3 seed and get to the Elite 8. Defense travels.

After basketball season I will move to the football board to help you guys understand how REALLY good Illinois State is going to be. They will be awesome.

I just really have never cared about UNI sports... even when they beat Kansas that one year and got to the sweet 16.

The drake team with K.Davis excited me because they played that uptempo style and jacked 3 pters. Was fun to watch.

UNI plays boring basketball.

Jacobsen is a good coach but UNI historically is much less than Iowa and Iowa state.

Fairfax coming on and pounding his chest makes me laugh.

Stop being so desperate for attention... but that's because you know no one actually cares so you have to come troll.

Weak really.

A 4 loss Drake team got a 5 seed in '08, A 5 loss Wichita St. team got a 5 seed in '12, a 7 loss Creighton team got a 7 seed in '13, a 5 loss Creighton team got a 8 seed in '12.

UNI will likely lose 2 games by the end of the year, be a 4 loss team, and that will net them a 5 seed as history shows.

What's funny to me is that a large majority of Hawkeye fans, at least the ones I know, pull for UNI in both FB and basketball, except when they play Iowa of course. Good to see Iowa programs do well.

but carry on, your living the dream.

UNI has scoreboard on Iowa. I was at the game and UNI man-handled Iowa.
So it's futile to say they only have better record or are ranked #11 because MVC is a weak conference.

UNI and ISU continued winning helps Iowa's RPI. Iowa needs their help because they went weak-sauce against Minnie and NW (the latter of which still wouldn't make MM playing in the MVC).

This is true. I and many others Hawk fans I know went to St Louis to watch UNI in regionals. I know internet smack talk makes it difficult but I still pull for all Iowa schools when not playing Iowa.
