I get it. It's just not in my DNA to sit at an Iowa game or in front of the TV, during an Iowa game and root against them. For any reason. If I'm unhappy with a certain player or coach, I just don't think about them during a game, if at all possible.
Agreed. ALWAYS want Hawks to WIN (so does Playmaker, guys). However, to his point, it's pretty hard to simply ignore derKirkFer when so many of his schematic and strategic decisions create inherent obstacles that reduce his team's chances of winning.
I ALWAYS want to CHEER for the Hawks. However, it's pretty hard to continuously do that when derKirkFer's stagnant, ball-control / field position dogma, coupled with his risk-aversive philosophy toward plays and players, with a healthy dose of clock mismanagement and lack of urgency routinely squander opportunities that would give us something to cheer about. This isn't just here and there. This is reliable and predictable in EVERY single game. Worst of all, it's intentional.
As a lifelong Hawk fan, I have always had two fundamental expectations (which I believe are extremely realistic):
1) Beat the teams you should.
2) ALWAYS play competitively.
Do this and, as talented as Hawks are, year-in / out + a generally mediocre to below-average non-conf schedule, 8-4 is cake walk.
derKirkFer has failed at both. I'm not sure of the last time after a loss where I felt the Hawks did everything they could to win the game - were completely prepared, strategically sound and seized every opportunity but simply got beat by the better team. Any more, it's just hoping not to lose to the Indiana teams and NwU because of another uninspired effort or coaching gaffe.
