Did you bump your head? 7-3 after 10 games??? You weren't talking this highly about Iowa's 2015 chances after last season ended....why the 180? People are going to start thinking you are on the U of I payroll if you keep this crazy talk up....or maybe that Hlas or Harty kidnapped you and took over your keyboard...wink. Seriously, I think you are nuts.....please explain if you would. BTW, love the podcasts!!!

I could see 7-3 if things fell into place. It's unfortunate that I could also see 3-7 if things don't fall into place. I don't know if a prediction thread on our record this year but I'm thinking 7 wins on the season just like I see every year at this time. I would love nothing more than to see Iowa win 10 games or more and then for the entire Hawkeye team come to my house and shove those words down my throat.

I know he said he was doing these predictions game by game independently and not looking at the overall record in his determination of each win. As said above, right now I could see it going either way 7-3 or 3-7 (yeesh). But if you look at each game individually it isnt outrageous to see any of his predicted wins as wins. I also think its reasonable to predict going 1-1 in the final 2 games. I mean we arent great but we're not Purdue bad

No more fools gold for me....I have had enough. Go ahead and tell me that no true fan ever roots against his/her team and I will call you a liar....if it takes a 5-7 campaign to finally be rid of KF, lets do this thing now and move on. I can promise you that there are secretly a very large amount of Iowa fans right now praying for the same exact outcome to happen...they just aren't admitting it publicly. KF lost my support at the end of the OSU game in 2009, and would have to walk on water for the next 3-4 years straight before I'd even consider supporting him again....but he is out of miracles, so why even entertain such nonsense. What is best for the program right now is NOT another 7-5 season followed by an a** kicking in a ho hum bowl game. Notice I didn't say "Bowl Championship"....they are only called that when you win the game...wink.

7-3 is too low after 10 games. This team has the ability to win every single one of these games. I believe they will do just that. The reason being is that defense is so strong this year, and that will win these games for Iowa.

So Kirk "lost your support" during an 11-2 season playing in a game where our QB was a backup in his first start? I'm not even sure how to respond to that.....

Maybe he's just piggy-backing on Phil Steele, who predicted at least 8 wins this year for the Hawks. Don't blame him, really cause Phil's the man when it comes to college football.

I often root for my favorite NFL team, the Rams, to lose when it looks like they won't make the playoffs (which is every year) so they can get a better draft pick. But the angle you are taking is not one I would take, who consider myself a real fan.

True fans should never want their team to lose. I don't really like the way the NFL has it where it is beneficial to lose for better draft picks if teams can't make the playoffs. I would change it so the last 4 or 5 games of the season are not figured into the draft. Most teams have a mathematical chance prior to that. Anyways Iowa will have a great year, and a lot of those "fans" will be eating crow.

You are not a fan if you are more concerned about being "right" about KF than you are about winning. I don't want KF as coach either, but if he can manage to get 9 or 10 wins this year, I'll be HAPPY, cause I root FOR the Iowa Hawkeyes more than I root against KF.....you on the other hand are rooting against KF more than you root for the Hawks.

To each their own I guess, but personally I'd never, ever consider you a Hawk fan at all.

I don't think that is Playmaker's point. It is how they lost that game and is a microcosm of how Kirk Ferentz coached teams typically lose games (but this was a big game to lose). They lost that game playing not to lose......OSU was on the ropes (their defense was a bit tired)....Iowa had decent field position with enough time on the clock to mount a field goal drive to win the game in regulation. Instead, Ferentz sat on the ball and choose to play in overtime. This gave OSU new life and a huge advantage at home. It was a gutless decision and not a particularly smart one considering OSU probably had the better offense playing on a short field.

Iowa needed to make its stand in regulation. Vandy may not have had the most pretty looking ball being put up in the air, but he was hitting his targets (lucky or accurate). If they would have lost turning the ball over....so be it. But at least they would have been going for the win and that I think is the most disappointing aspect of losing that game.

I think that's more of a basketball problem as far as tanking goes. The NFL has such a high turnover rate for coaches when it comes to bad teams that the coaches themselves have job security as their #1 priority to keep them from tanking. Plus the players and coaches in football have a heck of a lot more pride in their play/work then basketball. You don't see many guys like Randy Moss out there. The game just demands so much preparation of their bodies and Xs and Os for them not to.

As far as what Iowa is capable of this year is just a crap shoot. Anything between 5 and 9 wins wouldn't surprise me. The schedule being as weak as it is tells me anything less then 8 wins should be a huge disappointment. Although I said that last yr too.... Iowa will have to get better Oline play this year and run the ball more efficiently to have a better year. Since I don't forsee the offense opening up more with the play calling they just have to do a better job of executing what they will do... Maybe CJ will hit on more of the deep shots then JR did (and that would be huge) but I doubt that they'll call more of them.

Is there some way we can root for our TEAM to win but for Kirk Ferentz to lose? Sign me up for that.

That's because you didn't bother to read what he posted. One defining decision by KF, that was considered by most as "gutless" and invariably cost us that game. A Big Ten Championship on the line. Kneel down and pray you don't lose, at Ohio State, in overtime? That's the worst piece of football coaching I've ever seen in my life, next to not setting up for the fake punt vs Wisconsin, the following year. Those are #1 and #2 in Iowa coaching history of boneheaded blunders.

<<I don't think this is Playmaker's point>>

I'm not sure Haymaker, himself/herself, knows what the he&& his/her point is, either.

But I DO know he/she...
--Abandoned support of KF after the 2009 O$U game. Not sure what Haymaker was watching, but to think you take THOSE chances with a "green" QB who, BTW, was lucky enough to be in that position in the first place, is the "fool's gold" of which he/she spoke
--He/she wants the Hawks to lose so KF will get fired
--If there is still an "ignore" button on here, Haymaker gets a "click" from me. End of story.

There is a long list of reasons, as I have seen a lot of them posted. I dont agree with all of them but there are reasons.

Look, I want a new coach too and the list of why is long, but to cheer against him and to want Iowa to fail at that expense is just the dumbest thing ever said on here.

GO HAWKS or GTFO.

I get what he is saying in so much that while KF is the coach at Iowa, hoping for his failure is the same as hoping for the team to fail. As long as KF is the coach, I will always hope for his success. His success is the team's success.

Just like when he is replaced I will always hope for his replacement's success.
