This is not a big loss for this season.. He would have been behind Robinson, Hampton, Wegher, and possibly Omeara & Brad Rodgers.. No reason not to red shirt him this year anyway so he has 2 years eligibility after the big 3 are gone..

With the report of wegher leaving, rogers moving to fullback, hampton coming off of an injury, that leaves Robinson and Paki. We all know Paki just cannot play, and with the way the big ten punishes backs, Robinson wouldnt be able to carry the load all by himself, so that would mean we would probably be burning one of the freshman backs redshirts. So yes it is sort of a big loss, if he cant go.

Don't leave out Rodgers.. Everyone on here was calling for him at end of last season and pull red shirt when we had all the injuries and he seems like a physical back that could really be helpful this year if needed. Remember this time last year, we had a converted safety (ARob) and true freshman Wegher and Paki and we were fine.. Even without Wegher this year we would look alot better with Arob, hampton, rodgers, paki..

Kirk didnt know that Jewel would be out for the season until a later date towards the season. As far as the norm thing goes, that came from Rob, still hasnt shown me to be on target about anything.

If you don't think that Kirk knew the injury was pretty serious at the time it happened, then you are mistaking yourself!

Hampton was hurt LAST year...not this year.. He will miss the first game but will be back for rest of season. From all of the interviews from the players it sounds as if Hampton has looked good and in full health and Clayborn even made a comment that Hampton was back and was going to impress this year...
