No way dude, I was actually calling out guys bad mouthing the players. Sorry if some guys got their panties in a bunch for pointing out that we haven't had a running back make it through 3 solid years as a starter bince around the Nick Bell era. Really, I'm sorry. Coker will win 3 Heismans (he will come back for his senior season even though he is the consensus number 1 pick after his junior year) and he will lead us to two national titles and he will then be a number 1 pick after his senior year and ESPN will have specials about him that will make Tim Tebow's coverage look pedestrian.

I will say it again, if you think the football Gods owe Iowa some punishment, then that alone means you are owed some punishment as well. Yes, way dude!

I have to admit, I have thought about this. Hopefully Coker doesn't follow in the footsteps of Iowa RBs of past years. It has just been a train wreck at that position.

Iowa needs to hire a full time Secrect Service type unit, made up of former Navy Seals to protect Coker like he's the president and also make sure he's doing his school work and staying out of trouble.

Coker + Zues, McMillian, Ferentz, Gettis, & Reiff are the most important guys in the program right now.

The last time a true freshman looked that good at Sun Devil Stadium was Marcus Dupree in an early 80's Fiesta Bowl for Oklahoma. He quit halfway through his sophomore year and fizzled out and ESPN had a 30 for 30 special on him as he was the "Best that never was." We need to keep Coker's performance in check with reality here. Serious kudo's to the OL and Coker was humble and said so in the post-game press conference.

I agree - I think homer posted something about Coker being an engineering or physics major, so my guess is he will be okay academically. I've just seen us lose soooooo many promising guys at RB that I am beginning to think it is jinxed.
 
Poor Ladell never had an OL at Iowa, I always felt bad for him. Coker will benefit from great OL play in the years to come, that is if he can stay on the squad unlike most of his RB brethren!

Coker was impressive, but i agree that our oline was dominant. big holes and NO QB sacks given up to a defense that had 38 on the year. Mr. Vandenberg will have a great oline to play behind his two years in the sun. The thing that i love most about Coker is he always gets positive yardage. Maybe only stopped for negative or no gain once or twice last nite. Wisky has thunder and lightning in two backs, Iowa has it it one!!!! Work you're a$$ off and stay out of trouble Marcus, you've got a bright future ahead with your skillset and oline the next few years. GO HAWKS!!

Crossed my mind, too.
1) Still plenty of upside as he develops his vision, patience and cutback reads - uncanny skills that Green possessed. But to truly be the 2nd coming of SG, dude needs to get those shoulders down without losing balance and power. He got stuck on the goal line 1st drive by a 20# lighter safety because he was as upright as Hugh Hefner's privates on viagra. That will = fumbles or broken ribs and knees. (He scored the next play due to outstanding OL blocking.)
2) Ya know how names eerily represent something about the person (Baker becomes a chef, things like that). COKEr ... Twisted stretch? Maybe. Just sayin', something for Chiqiosi to keep an eye on, in light of recent events;)
 
I like Kirk's comments about him after the game. He made it a point to say that he is an even better person OFF the field. Just a little jab at DJK and Arob.
 
my god people. we have one 'decent' game, and we are on top of the world again. big ten champs next year?!
