Coe to IWCC

Any chance he could pull off the four semester of Summer '11, Fall '11, Spring '12, Summer '12, graduate Summer '12 and be in Iowa City for the fall of '12? Does that ever happen? Or is that asking too much for a kid that apparently struggles in school?

AIRBHG strikes again.

I think it's a good sign he's attending a CC in Iowa, at least. But 2 years is long time for someone that age.

Agreed - If he can handle the CC and get his grades in order he should be hawk in a couple years.

Not a surprise, the rumors have been flying. The fact that he's staying in Iowa is huge. I'm sure everyone's planning on him becoming a Hawk if he's staying in the state.

Hopefully he gets his grades in order and follows in the footsteps of Clinton Solomon and Shonn Greene. :)

He'll actually be much closer to Lincoln than Iowa City. His intention may be to come to Iowa but who knows....feels like other highly touted RB's we lost recently right now. Hope he plays some defense over there and comes back ready to rock on that side of the ball. Unless FB is a position he covets.

David Blackwell, QB recruit from Iowa's '08 class also went the ICWW route, then signed with Bethune-Cookman which must be FCS like UNI. Blackwell is no longer on BC's roster...

That would be an absolute nightmare.

Some people have what it takes to be a hawk and some dont. I think he is right where he needs to be for now. I doubt he goes to another B10 school if he decides not to come here. That would be really low of another coach to recruit out of camp.

Why? He's fair game now. He's a JUCO recruit now and many programs will offer their pitch to him that didn't or did while he was a prep. Have a feeling we will be solidified at RB in 2 years, then again the AIRBHG hasn't been kind to us either, so he may not want to come to Iowa then. Or if he is playing a different position then, Iowa may no longer need his services. Tough to tell but have a feeling we see him somewhere other than Iowa. BTW, Nebraska was one of his many offers.

I am not saying he cant or even wont. Just unlikely. I would imagine there is a certain amount of respect between coaches, if not than KF shouldnt have any problems poaching their camps.

Sorry guys! Was I supposed to be keeping AIRBHG occupied or something..?

I was too busy racing mice in SE Iowa.. my bad.

Not in recruiting. He is fair game and if he turns out to be a good to great player as was predicted, then many will come calling. This will be interesting to see if he is a good RB or if he needs to move positions.

As far as everyone concerned about RB depth, many many were saying he would never play RB anyway, so why the concern.

Huh, well thats dumb. I agree, he needed alot of work and most likley will not live up to potential outside the Hawk program. I just figured when you had a commit and set him up in state, the rest of the coaches respected that and ofcourse the recruit does as well. I dont know if I find any honor in a coach who poaches in a situation like that or a player who takes advantage either. But I am kind of a homer on things like that. Everyone is out for themselves these days. No respect and no honor.
But it seems to work out in the end, if he does not have the character it takes, then we dont need him. And if other coaches are going to poach, then I guess we see what they and their programs are about. This is not a deal where you get some out of state high school kid or picking up a juco that no one else even looked at. This is going the extra mile for a kid and helping him the best you can.

Not getting Coe is definitely a blow. Quite apart from what many Iowa fans "felt" about him ... it remains a FACT that Coe was a guy who was physically mature enough to step right in and handle the BLOCKING responsibilities of an Iowa RB.

McCall is a guy who I also see as being capable of contributing.

As much as I'm excited about Canzeri, I have trouble seeing him being ready to handle the blocking responsibilities of an Iowa RB as a TR FR. I think that he's a terrific fit for Iowa's system and I think that he'll develop wonderfully at Iowa ... however, I'm not certain how comfortable I would be having him being responsible for protecting Vandenberg.

From what I've heard, White is currently ahead of Johnson [thanks for the catch hawkfarmer]. So that means that if McCall is able to jump on the scene early, that still only gives us mediocre depth between Coker, White, and McCall.

And we are still hoping to get Rogers back.

Who is Brown? Are you talking about Johnson? You don't think he factors in much?
