rob koll of cornell received honors this year along with his freshman of the year dake. cornell is on the rise and hope we shut up the believers next year in thinking iowa will fall to this school..mad props to this coach though for putting together a program in a VERY hard school to get into and well all know wrestlers aren't the smartest group of guys!

i feel Mcd's year was more impressive....I not 100% sure what Dake's over all record was, but McD had just 1 single loss all year.

Just went over to Cornell's website. Dake was 34-2.

Pretty sure Dake was a true freshman. Perhaps some thought his performance right out of high school made him more worthy than McD. And McD did not ever wrestle a couple of the big names at his weight - not his fault, just worked out that way. Not sure if Dake had similar good fortune. No problem with Dake getting this honor but I would have chosen McD.

No one redshirts @ Cornell. Both guys are deserving as McD had one less loss in a tougher weight but Dake's performance less than a year from graduating high school is very impressive as well.
Without the Iowa fan in me I'd have voted Dake based on true vs. RS. I know it is freshman of the year and not "true" freshman of the year but still it has to be taken into consideration.

Hard to beleive a kid like Dake was in high school last year. As impressive as he looked, what high school kid would even think about stepping on the mat with him, and how many guys in his hs room could he drill with?

McD is still impressive, but last year was the complete opposite for him. He was in the best room in world wrestling the best in the world.

How fun would it be in 3 years if both are going for their fourth, and they end up in the same weight class.
