For as much as they trash our conference for "sucking" every year, it is interesting that they are now begging to be a part of it...

Other than being a Land Grant University, Clown U offers nothing other than a hand-out and another mouth to feed. That about sums up their status. Nobody wants them. Sorry, their place at the table is taken.

I hope when this 16 team league dissolves they vote out teams like Iowa that add nothing and you as a fan must have to go through this.

Its a tough spot to be in. Thats for sure. But you chose to be a Cyclone fan, for better or worse. Live with it. If you end up in an FCS conf. Live with it. Stop coming over to an Iowa board whining about it.

As much fun as it is to pull the chain of cyclone fans, I would agree this is going to be a bad deal. This will be a big blow. The wrestling program will ultimately be lossed. The coaching salaries will gradually be diminished. The bowling of the stadium is over. Who knows what changes take place at Hilton. Rhoads who is fabulous guy and Coach is no longer at his dream school. He ultimately leaves if his success continues. The list could go on and on(probably a good thread on its own). I will give you guys s---, on a regular basis but this sucks for ISU and the state of Iowa as a whole.

Really? Add Nothing? Lets see, in the last twelve months Iowa has won a BCS Football game and a Wrestling National Championship.
In addition Iowa ranks 15th on the list of total revenue, only $2M behind ND and ahead of USC (by $6M) and Nebraska (by 7M).
Also Iowa fans have proven time and time again that we're willing to travel anywhere at anytime en mass (25,000+) to see the Hawks play.
Can ISU say the same? I'll answer that for you... They can't!

Yeah, you're right, we add nothing at all. Let's see here:
1. Money - Just over the last 8 years, we have added approximately $50M to the Big 10 coffers from our participation in 6 January bowl games (2 of which were BCS games).
2. Competitiveness - Over the last 25 years, we have the 3rd most wins in the Big 10 (behind only Michigan and OSU).
3. Prestige & Exposure - In the last 10 years, there's something like 5 teams that have been to as many or more January bowl games as the Hawkeyes.
4. Academic - Iowa brings a top of the line research institution and one of the best law and medical programs in the country.
So yeah, other than those things, Iowa brings nothing to the Big 10.
