Clones vs Blue Jays

I haven't watched much Clone ball lately, but if they are allowed to play defense the way they are playing Creighton right now, they should barrel through their schedule. The female announcer claims that ISU never fouls (maybe she meant never gets called for fouls), so I guess having two hands on your man and wrapping him up constantly is no longer fouling. Nice to know, I guess.

Iowa State has been much more physical in the past.

Such a dumbass tournament. ISU went 2-0 and will play for 5th place. St. John's hit a meaningless layup at the buzzer which knocked ISU down to the 5th place game.

On the bright side for them, they get $1 million for their NIL just for playing in the tournament. 1st place gets another million, 2nd place gets a half million, and 3rd place gets a quarter million extra. The field will expand to 32 teams next year.

First year of it and they had a million teams wanting in so the format went nuts.

Next year the 32 teams will all be in 8 team brackets so it will make a lot more sense.

Maybe. Like I said, I hardly watch them, but I was always told that two hands on the opposition is a foul. Not at yesterday's contest.
In any event, it was a basketball game between two teams that I hoped could both lose.

Iowa State plays like that every game and most teams do.

Then the sport of basketball has been denigrated even further. And as far as I can tell, Iowa doesn't play that way, nor do I want them to. I love college basketball, and I know we'll never go back to the days when players actually dribbled the ball according to the rules of the game. I don't want to turn back the clock on all the nuances of the game, but allowing players to "guard" their opponent by holding them with both hands should be a foul, just as it was fifty years ago.

Yes, and all you whippersnappers, get off my lawn!

It’s been this way for 25 years. It’s much better than it was 20 years ago.

Wasn't there a decree from on high a few years ago that the refs should be paying special attention to "freedom of movement," in effect, telling the refs to keep the defensive hands off the offense players?

AAU all these years has completely killed the true "game" of basketball with team motion, etc.. Players go up thru the AAU rank and it has become so individualized compared to team play. This along with the 3 pt shot has completely changed the game. Ya know have 4-5's shooting 3's along with everyone else playing outside in on offense. Teams are launching 30 3's a game.

It's refreshing watching Iowa & Ben McCollums team that actually play motion with cutting and trying to score at the hoop and get fouled going to the line much more than other teams.

In addition, do we even have a 3 sec rule in the lane anymore. That seems like was gone by the wayside similar to traveling in the NBA. I watched Iowa St. & Purdue and Purdue's centers literally just stood in the lane for the entire offensive possessions. They have done that in the past as well.

If I were the opposing coach I'd be lobbying officials to watch that for that call. It's literally the entire offensive possession at times. They have like 3 guys over 7' and it's such an advantage they don't have to move but can be around the hoop for a rebound and put back. That's where the real advantage is camping in the lane.
