Why does he follow you on Twitter? It would be interesting to see if Fran has an offer for him.

I thought I had read that I had indeed offered him. This is good news, in my mind. I think he would be a great second PG in the class. Perfect addition to the class. Probably not a guy you would look to start, but one who could grow into more responsibility. Sounds like he has a lot of what Fran is looking for, and is one of those fly under the radar guys that FM is so skilled at seeking out and finding. I have a good feeling he will come back around to the Hawks. Perhaps he has seen the class fill out a bit and now realizes the potential.

Can someone fill me in on who Clemmons is? I must have missed the name if he was / is on the recruiting radar. Thanks

I trust what Fran is doing but this one has me a little confused. He has landed Gessel one of the top ranked PG's his position and we know Iowa needs a 2nd one but no one outside of mediocre (at best) mid majors are targeting this kid. I know Fran needs to dig a little deeper and find talent that others are over looking but this one seems to be a reach.

Perhaps Fran knows he does not have much of a shot at landing Lee so he is making sure there is a backup plan in place.

I see that point. I don't know much about Clemmons either, but I wonder how his game differs from Dickerson's.

Here's a highlight video on Lansing Sexton guard Anthony Clemmons (No. 5). Quite lanky, which allows him to play decent defense at the point. Doesn't hesitate to drive when it's there. This highlight video doesn't show him posting up or shooting beyond the arc. His dribble strikes me as too high -- in the B1G he'd get stripped faster than a Lexus in Newark -- but that's something Fran & Co. could work on.

Other opinions?

based on the reading I have done, Clemmons' strength appears to be his defense. He is apparently pretty close to lock down on defense, and that may explain why Fran is targeting him. This would make a whole lot of sense to me.

Thanks for the video clip. Referencing the comments made about Ingram being the best on ball defender they evaluated, it's easy to see why McCaffrey likes Clemmons. He appears to be a guy that can create havoc in the half court and press situations with his length and tenacity. I see a little bit of Hubbard's game in Clemmons with the rebounding, defense and dribble drive. Another guy that can play 1-3, maybe even a small 4 if he grows a couple of inches.

Coincidences?

It doesn't QUITE apply in this case, but if you watch crime shows on TV, one thing they always say is that if there is an investigation where it seems like there is a coincidence (or a lot of coincidences), it is in fact NO coincidence.

There are no such things as coincidences when it comes to crimes that are being investigated.

Awesome reference.

Anyway, I love when guys get defense highlighted in their highlight reels. Such a rarity and its typically encouraging from a defensive perspective.

Agreed. And reiterating what I noted earlier, I think this is exactly why Fran would be interested in this kid. Especially if we get Woodbury (admittedly still an IF at this point), we would seem to have the offensive talent to compete in coming seasons. But you also need awesome defensive minded guys, and this dude seems to foot the bill. And as others have noted, not every kid is gonna be a complete package, 4 star player. Unless you are KU or UNC, you need guys like this to round out your class. Not everybody is going to be a starter, and so I think Fran is looking at this kid as, well, a typical Fran kid...hard working, solid fundamentally, hustling, defensively strong kid with a good attitude. In other words, someone Fran can groom into a top player.
