Clemmons is a BALLER

I know there was some chatter on here that playing time might be lacking for Clemmons.....that was wrong.

I think there are two coaches that didnt even plan on how good Clemmons was going to be.

He has been very quick and sees the floor well. He also is one of the few Iowa players hitting the 3 ball. He sure is fun to watch and its nice to take one out of spartys back yard.

I think things could get interesting next year for the starting PG spot.

I would think mike moves back to run the show but I think Clemmons can push him or they may even put th side by side and keep mike as a 2 depending on how jok comes along.

Great post. Clemmons needs to start and get more minutes that Gesell. Extremely quick and athletic and tough as nails

You're right. Clemmons is a BALLER.
He's been clutch. Good body strength that many guards can't handle. Quick. He's fun to watch.

It appears at times he loses focus.

Definitely has some WTF moments. I think he is our best PG though and I would like to see him run the point more to get that experience.

Give Mike G some time to recover from his injury and get his mojo back. You must have forgotten how good he was last year. If he was healthy the whole year we have another win or two and make the dance outright.

Im not saying he is better than Mike G. They are different. Just want to make that clear. I think Clemmons could start but I dont know that I would start him right now.

I think who you start on this team could go a bunch of different ways and you could make a good argument for all those ways.

Mike G's play has suffred since having to play more time at the 2 spot. Props to Mike for being a team player because what is best for the team is Marble to run the point is hurting his game.

I like Clemmons a lot, but I think he is only still scratching the surface of what type of player he will become. He was a guy that played off the ball in HS due to Denzel Valentine being on his team and he was niche player, granted when I watched him a very good niche player.

Clemmons still has moments that make me shake my head, but all the tools are there for him to be a great PG, his shot is improving and his defense continues to be very good. Give him more time running a team and I think he is the better of the two PG's Iowa has on their roster.

That's not really true. Gesell's shot better, 46.1% compared to 39.2%, after Marble took over the main pg duties following Gesell's injury against Nebraska. Whatever his issue is this year seems unrelated to whether he's playing the 1 or the 2.

I read on another site that MG was battling cold/flu yesterday. I hope that's all it is because we sure need him, especially vs these pesky guard-oriented teams.

It was also his birthday last weekend, so it could have been an alcohol related cold/flu, these are college kids after all.

gesell had a rep for being more effective off the ball from AAU (when paige was his pg), and it doesn't look like he's comfortable with the speed of the college game when running the break.

get davonte newton or cam smith in the 2014 class, and gesell is mainly a 2 who spots time at the 1. giving up some size, but he plays really well off the ball -- especially that little cut to the elbow that he likes.
