When I first heard this I was taken back by it. But after seeing her explanation and thinking about it I find it to be an amazing flex of a move by her.
She knows her worth and she isn't going to be pressured into doing anything she doesn't want first of all. She wants to do it for the Wnba first and with it being in Indy it just made more sense to her to do that. So if the NBA wants to have that sort of cross over bring Steph/Klay whomever else to their All Star festivities and compete. I think it's genius. Nobody can say she doesn't prioritize the WNBA league. She puts her marketing degree from Iowa to good use a heck of a lot and it's awesome to see. She thinks outside the box.
It woulda been real easy for her to have just done both. But she knows it'd be tougher for NBA guys to say no to her if she did this as opposed to have already done it next month. It woulda been interesting to been a part of her inner circle as she decided on doing this. Was this all her idea or Connors or someone elses? I'm inclined to think it's all hers.
In fact the WNBA is pretty lame for not already having tried to do this sort of thing. After last yr especially with Sabrina doing what she did at the NBAs all star wkend this seems like an obvious sort of thing to try. And who knows maybe they did and were rebuffed and it was kept quiet. But if so you gotta put the NBA on blast that's how you get things done is by using your leverage and flexing. Which Caitlin has no problem doing.
