Clapgate

I'm not really anti Nebraska. They have faults like everyone else. The thing that doesn't surprise me is Dantonio doing this. He's a scummy coach who will cheat, lie and steal to win. I'm urprised he hasn't moved on to the SEC where they can appreciate these things.

Exactly, he's a sleezeball. Remember two years ago when we were making a comeback in the fourth quarter, and after every play a MSU player would be writhing in obvious pain on the turf, stopping play and momentum and the following play, the injured player who had to be helped off the field would be back in the game completely cured until the next time he went down....

He laughed about it after the game and Dantoio seemed clueless, not knowing what the sportswriters were talking about.....

Nasty P**** and his gang of headhunters should be playing in the SEC....

Sure its against the rules but the reason he's using for doing it without saying so is that it's gamesmanship and it's his way of trying to get one up on them. Like holding and it not being called or PI etc... If you coach your DBs to grab the receiver every single time they are beat deep because a 15 flag is better then a TD or spot of the foul penalty like it is in the pros is that not the same thing? That's breaking the rules on purpose to benefit yourself and it can just as easily be done both ways.

I agree with this to a point but pre-snap bull sheet like this to me is different than live action where if your dback is getting beat and he is quick and athletic enough to try to bump or hold the receiver .

Just like post-play bull sheet where dantonio has his players collapsing on the field with injuries. It is almost scripted like "ok after 1st down #27 goes down with cramps, then after 2nd down #76 goes down with a hyperextended knee, you got that 76 a knee problem, ......"

And there is a lot of holding in the offensive line because it is reactionary and sometimes on purpose and trying to get away with it.

I just can't believe that UN's AD didn't come out after the game and accuse the B1G officials of a massive conspiracy to keep them down.

Their AD did, however, when they were in the Big 12 (Tom Osborne no less) complain to the B12 commissioner about a call in the Championship Game against Texas saying it was a conspiracy against Pelini. Colt McCoy threw a ball out of bounds and the clock stopped with 1 second left and Texas kicked a game winner. Now that I think about that, it still brings a smile to my face.

Clapping is an utterly stupid way for an offense to communicate that practically demands to be screwed with by a defense. Whether against the rules or not...I have zero problems with Sparty doing this, if in fact they were.

Plus, if the crowd noise is such that the center can't tell if a clapping noise if coming from his own QB behind him, or from somebody in front of him across the LOS, the offense should have switched to silent signals anyway.

How is this any different than a defensive lineman yelling "hut" trying to get a lineman to jump offsides?

Why use a hand clap as your snap signal? Because Ohio state does it? Because you want to be Ohio state and your not? Pelini should've been fired a long time ago

Why should a team have to change their snap indicator when it's a penalty for the defense to simulate it? That doesn't make any sense. That's like telling Iowa in the middle of a game that they can't say anything anymore and instead they have to clap. How well do you think that would go over?

They shouldnt have too, but if the refs arent going to call it and it is messing up their snap, all they would have to do is change it. They shouldnt have, too, but anyone with more than 2 active brain cells could figure out how to fix the problem. Obviously Pelini couldnt.

I see what your saying. I just feel that so long as it's being called both ways fairly I don't have the largest of problem with it. If both sides can do it and not get it called then it's like the strike zone in baseball. You adjust to the officials. If one side was getting it called on and not the other then..... Do I think it's shady and lame? Yes I do and as a fan I don't like it. But if I were a coach I'd adjust. That's what teams do and should be able to do. What other recourse do you have during a game if the refs are letting it go on?
