Thoughts? He had a mid major offer list. I like his height though.
It's a head scratcher. We just signed 5 players between 6'5 and 6'7. Not sure if Fran is hedging his bets and figures 1 or 2 might transfer, this way he gets the pick of the lot? Or if he plans on using them at the 1-4 spots, which makes sense too. If 2 of them end up spending time at PG, that would be great. Not as our starting PG but back up minutes.
What was the figure? 400 D-1 transfers every year? Or something crazy like that? It's probably not a bad strategy to consider. This class isn't like the Alfraud classes of multiple 2* wings that had little D-1 skills out of the gate. These guys bring skills. It's not a bad thought process. Best case scenario all 5 of them pan out and we are set at the 2,3, and 4 for awhile, and maybe even backup 1. Worst case scenario we get the pick of the litter and the others leave opening up more scholarships to use when we are further removed from the hole Lick dug.
It's a good recipe for getting killed in the post, however.I think Fran wants 2 PG, 2 Shooters, 2 stretch 4's, 2 C/PF and that leaves 5 slasher types. This give him roster versatility. For instance Jok develops as a better outside shooter, Hutton a defensive stopper, Moss/Williams a slasher scorer. I don't think Fran wants to be tied down to one style, and the more versatile athletes you have the more you can do with your offense and defense.

4 Post players is plenty. That is what we rotated this year (Woody, Gabe, White, & Uthoff).
My math must be bad or I am forgetting someone. I am only counting two that can be counted as post players, Woody and Uthoff. Woody still gets in foul trouble and is not a shot blocker by any stretch of the imagination. Uthoff has played like a taller three instead of a 4 or 5. Am I missing a BIG on this team?
A 6'9" guy or taller with broad shoulders and a strong upper body and good leaping ability would suffice. Most of the really successful teams have a star guard who can shoot it and shake and bake it and a Big who can own the glass and at least score moderately.
Now if one of these 6'6" guys can do a MJ performance for us then we are talking. That would more than cover the guard position but whar the BIG? Let's face it with all the time and experience Woody has had I really don't see hiim changing his game. Most BiGS probably haven't started in the amount of games by the end of their college careers that Woody has already experienced. No knock on him as it is what it is. I think he has peaked is what I am trying to say. Maybe Uthoff can blow up but I don't see Adam doing that. I hope I am sooooooo wrong.
All of the incoming basketball recruits look pretty athletic and talented. I read where Williams has a seven foot wingspan for a six foot six guy. Who knows how tall these guys will be in a couple of years. The junior college player Jones was only six foot five when he was a high school senior. I know Brandon Scherff is a football player, but he was only rated a three star coming out of high school. It sounds like Iowa has the potential to improve both defensively and offensively next year.
Is Jones a done deal? Guess I haven't seen anything about him signing, or declaring for Iowa.
