I'm not so crazy about his coaching record... Consistently mediocre. Plus he got himself fired from Bowling Green after getting recorded acting stupid at a bar with women. It's vague whatever it was he did but they used the moral clause in his contract to fire him. I'm picturing Larry Eustachy kind of shit.

I wouldn't over complicate this if I'm Beth. Reach out to DeVries it's his if he wants it. If he doesn't then the search begins.

I think Devries is pie in the sky pick, obviously he'd be my #1 choice but I don't see him leaving a place that has rabid fans, healthy NIL and firmly one of the better programs in his league to come and take on the mountain that is Iowa basketball

I think more likely names like McCollum, Jans, Tim Miles, Rick Pitino

IMO, Iowa is likely not going to get a top name for this job. I hope I am wrong and Beth has a plan.

Hard pass on Miles or either Pitino.

I'd be really happy with the other three though.

McCollum can do better than Iowa, but moving home could have some sway. If nothing else, Iowa offers a lot of stability if you are above average at your job.

I am betting Devries. There has been a lot of smoke there.

I hope your wrong too. If we don't have the money to buy players then it is vital to get a coach in here that will attract talented players who will want to play for him.

I’m sorry but what?
Everywhere he has been they have won.
Including a title at Kirkwood.
He was a major reason Wichita State was always winning.
Recruiting and Defense.
Don’t hear much from there anymore.

I won’t get into the bar thing because it’s a joke. Some say a setup.

Anyway hire his ass! Coming from a Fairbank guy!

I’ll go ahead and predict that Connor never coaches at Iowa in any sort of fashion ever.
I’ll go so far that he never sets foot in the state of Iowa again unless it’s to watch his girlfriend get some kind of award.

That family is done with Iowa for good. Can’t say I blame ‘em.

Look, dude is old as hell, and obviously has some bad history, but if the NIL money is there, he's our only chance of ever seeing a national championship in basketball or football.

Now of course, he will never come here, and Iowa would almost certainly never hire him, but if it were my decision and he were actually on the table and willing to coach for 3-5 years? I mean, hell yeah.
