Chris Doyle - Your Team Just Got Physically Dominated - What are you going to do?

I think the problem goes deeper than weightlifting.
Yes, absolutely.

This wasn't about Minnesota having more muscle. They don't.
This was about Minnesota having more heart.

Doyle can't build up Iowa player's "want to" muscle.
There's only one person that can do that and that's the guy looking in the mirror.

Haven't seen one player or coach say Iowa's strength program has changed in any way since the incident - other than stopping that particular workout. The Brandon Scherff video says "hello".

Internet myths are fun.

What I saw yesterday was less-than-max effort, including surprisingly tentative play from Weisman, and bad technique especially from the guards. Walsh+Welsh=Whiff.

Look into it. Not what they say for public consumption. But I still say Sat. problem was between the ears

Good try, dilldo. Obviously something changed and just because someone hasn't come out and said it doesn't mean it's not true.

I think we have a lot of big strong guys, and early we even opened up some holes. I love MW, but he was slow getting to them. He is a good short yardage back. Not sure what his deal was Saturday, but there were some 3 yard runs that could have been much bigger had someone hit the hole quicker. The defense on the other hand, just did not come to play. The worst part about it is, both sides of the ball just seemed to quit as if to say, "it's not like KF is going to do anything different to win this game." It was 21-7, and you could almost feel the team giving up. This team has an attitude problem. Don't get me wrong, I might have an attitude problem if I watched my coach continue to do the same ineffective crap over and over, and leave talented players out of the game plan.

THIS, holy **** THIS. A legitimate RB with some quickness and speed would have been gashing that Minnesota defense before the wheels fell of. There were ridiculous lanes open

It does get sad watching other Rbs on good teams. Cobb's 6-yard touchdown where he jump-cut outside then stiffed armed Lomax outside the tackle and walked in for a TD made me envious. For us, that is run for 1 or zero yards. MW simply cannot get holes to and can't make cuts to avoid contact. The play he ran right into the CB on the outside zone is an example. He need to cut that inside the CB then bounce it but he doesn't have the agility or athletic ability to do that so he ran right into the CB who has the outside contained for zero yards.

MW is a good football player. But there is a reason he walked on the Air Force academy to play fullback. College football recruiting is pretty sophisticated these days. Teams didn't just miss on him.

I didn't know you could just walk on to the Air Force Academy

Could it be that Doyle's strength & conditioning methods, once revolutionary, have been copied, modified, improved upon, and thus Iowa is no longer at a physical advantage against many teams?

If he doesn't have the ability to adjust to the times, that would explain why Kirk likes him so much.

Also about this Bullies of the B1G nonsense. Its been over 10 seasons since the Michigan LB made the remark and Griese repeated that player's remark on TV. Iowa coaches, players, & fans are the only people who have referred to the Hawkeyes as bullies of the B1G. Nicknames don't count when you give it to yourself and nobody else uses it.

Just an FYI for everyone. Chris Doyle is not the only good strength coach in America. It is time to quit thinking that he is the 'end all" of strength coaches. He is just one of many good ones at the d-1 level.

This is just great. We get out manned physically in one game and our strength and conditioning program is suddenly, inexplicably, in the toilet. The guys who followed up on this genius inspired conclusion with logical answers, like, for example, we are struggling at the RB position, are to be applauded. Glad to see the thumbs up appearing next to their posts. I guess if we are to continue to follow the national tradition of finding someone to blame for every bad thing that happens, then bashing CD is another in a long line of nonsense.

Just my opinion, as always, but we wanted to play physical smash mouth football, they wanted to play physical smash mouth football, to me the difference may have had a great deal to do with time of possession and the fact that we couldn't get our offense going long enough to get our defense off the field.

Well RH said in his article they were as big and strong as us. So apparently they are getting their money's worth with their 60k strength coach.

First, can we stop with the reincarnation of threads that are over a year old? I read through almost all of the first page before realizing this was from 2014.

Next, this loss is not on conditioning, and has nothing to do with how much money Doyle makes.

Saturday's debacle had everything to do with heart/desire (they had it we didn't), bonehead mistakes (overthrown ball to start first series, two dropped passes in a row, holding on a 62 yard play, bad snap on 3rd and 3), and timid coaching when we needed anything but (last Iowa possession).

I respectfully disagree with this.

Not blaming him for this loss, but if I was looking for a personal trainer, I'd avoid hiring someone that is obese and arrogant. Just sayin.

I don't know how he can't get partial blame for the loss. An FCS team with less depth than us completely worked us over in the trenches in the second half. We looked out of shape and a step slow the whole 4th quarter

Yep, attention was on Doyle at the worst possible time. Kind of funny the timing. In the media for his jumbo contract extension and his team gets pushed around like ragdolls by a FCS team.

That's what they say in political world about bad optics..signs ext..everybody get some raises..promptly underperforms..just looks bad
