Do the semantics really matter? I write in the lead of the chat each week that its a moderated chat, and not all posts will come in. you know what it is, you know what it isn't.

I was disappointed also.... Many times I posted something that I thought was a good message and it never saw the chat. TOO much screening... Fans should be able to voice their opinions! Many times at this site I sense the love of power Jon feels. This site is usually always last with info too. I came to the chat thinking I would read some good comments from other fans but all I pretty much saw was game by game calls. I think most of us had it on the TV, radio, or both. Didnt need Jons play by play. Was called chat room > not Jon's opinions and Jon's deciosions on what gets put on the chat.... Lame!

Dude, you got to watch the game on TV. A lot of us didn't. I didn't even get radio coverage for most of the game-- there was a radio stream online that somehow got taken over by Mike freakin' Huckabee halfway through. There are always multiple threads going during the game that you can contribute to and are not moderated at all.

The sense of entitlement here is astounding. You want to be able to watch the game and comment on it in real time with hundreds of people you don't know... and you think a guy who is working his *** off should pick out and post YOUR comments out of the tens of thousands he gets during the game. And it should be free.

Jon's not going to say it because he's a pro, but seriously, start thinking about someone besides yourself for ten seconds.

I for one have to imagine Jon has the patience of a Saint to try and moderate some of the people here in real time. For some odd reason, I just imagine the guys watching the game while chatting online are the guys who are either in Afghanistan or are so obnoxious that no one will watch the game with them, so they have their computer to keep them company.

I have never participated in the chat (since I am neither in Afghanistan or friendless), but I imagine it goes like this:

Iowa football, First and 10: Stanzi Completes to DJK for 8 yards. The peanut gallery erupts with 6,000 posts saying "Stanzi for Heisman! Watch out Pasadena here we come!"
Second and 2: Incomplete pass. The tide turns "WHARGARBBL! Terrible! We will be lucky to win this game!
Third and 2: Coker run for 1 yard. "NAME ONE COACH IN AMERICA WORSE THAN KOK! I am so mad I literally just threw my beer through the window of my mom's basement! And There's Ferentz just counting his money, doing nothing! When is Barta going to put the heat on him?

Rinse, and repeat 80 times over three hours, except with much worse grammar and spelling.

Wow, and here i thought Jon was doing a great thing by providing a free chat for those that cant watch/listen....i guess just another day of people unhappy and needing something to complain about.

Wow, that is a pretty accurate depiction. I simply cannot comprehend the lack of perspective that is so prevalent here.

I was in the chat and enjoyed it while watching the game, but frankly I couldn't handle 50 posts per play. It would be way too hard to follow. If you want to vent and don't want to be screened, then stick to the message boards, Facebook, or Twitter.
