I don't think it is staying out of the NFL's lane enough. Most of the general sports public have moved on from college football after Jan 1, when the NFL playoffs really start to pick up.

If FCS can run a 24 team tourney, then FBS should be able to, too.

Sure, there'd be bitching from teams 25-30, but at that point it'd be more like teams 69-78 in the NCAA tourney. Sort of fringe anyway.

I wish the entire playoffs were done by Jan. 1 too. What I meant by staying out of the NFL's lane is that this week's games and the final game next weekend all avoid Saturday and Sunday when the NFL playoff games are on.

I would like to see a change of venues for the semifinals and finals. It seems we’re just carrying over the old bowl games and making them into CFP playoff venues. most of these key games are played in the south or California/Arizona. It favors the SEC for the most part, but it’s definitely biased against teams north of the Mason-Dixon line.. This year, Miami. Will be playing in the national championship in Miami. I think it’s unfair to introduce that level of local bias into a national championship affair.
It would’ve been interesting to have these semifinal games played in the Home stadium of the highest ranked teams. Last night we would’ve had Miami at Mississippi. Which might’ve been the difference in going the other way in that game. Tonight‘s game would be outdoors in Bloomington Indiana. Environment and weather would have a big outcome on the game.

I'll be pulling for Indiana, but my gut is that Oregon is going to take them down tonight.

The Ducks are healthier than they were in the first match-up, and Lanning is smart as hell, and I'm sure he relishes the idea of bursting the Cignetti hype bubble.
