CBSSports Previews Iowa vs Ohio State (VIDEO)

Did they say we have no answer for Sullinger? Does no one recall that Basabe had his way with him offensively and defensively? I'm not saying we'll win, but to say we can't stop a guy we contained last year is ridiculous.

Contain and stop are two very different things. We kept Sullinger from going nuts in Iowa City last year. But we didn't shut him down. He'll get his. Buford is the guy I'm most worried about. We haven't seen a guy like him yet (Taylor is very, very good, but Buford plays in a system that allows him more rein than Taylor.).

One of my favorite pics from Lick's last year was of May blocking a Buford dunk, face up at the rim...hopefully May will have a little sum'n, sum'n for him again...

Basabe played Sullinger very well at Carver, and if I remember correctly Brommer played Sullinger well in Columbus, although we lost significantly at OSU.....

My memory just might be failing me, but I do believe Andrew Brommer had his best game as a Hawkeye that night....

:)

I hope bucky comes in thinking cakewalk, and the Hawks play with a "not in our house" attitude. I am even more optimistic since they predict we have no chance.

Go Hawks!!!!!

Sully,Buford and Thomas are a dynamic offensive trio. Thomas is a guy who can absolutely destroy a defense that is focused on the other two. He is shooting the three very well, and is simply a natural born scorer anywhere on the floor.

OSU has a myriad of options ....Craft is a great orchestrator, and Lenzelle Smith is a shutdown defender(on Gatens I suspect). Siefert has started shooting better from the arc,and Weatherford is starting to get playing time. Scott is a blur in the open court and Amir Johnson is a stud in the paint.

Hoping that they are all having a bad nite would be almost too much to expect.
On paper, this is not a close game. But, maybe Carver-magic will start to kick in again with a near full house.
This will be a real test of the Fran theory that we have to push it constantly up court at a break-neck pace. Against a team as talented as this, that could result in a huge blowout, the wrong way.

Sullinger still got 22 points in Iowa City last year... wouldn't call that shutting him down.
