CBS has Jackson going #13 in draft...

Please, not Miami. It’s a black hole.

1st round especially that high — he’s not staying

Would hate to lose him, but you can't blame a kid with that kind of opportunity in front of him. Life-changing at 21 is hard to pass up.

Agree, can't blame him at all if he goes. Might shake my head a bit if he stays. Sucks to lose him, but it's nice to have that kind of talent, even for one year. Hopefully we have a lot of guys in the future that are good enough to leave early.

If he doesn't go, I'm just gonna assume someone on staff is blackmailing him.

Did someone on the staff blackmail Desmond when he came back, even though he was "projected" to be a 1st round pick? The truth was that the NFL guys that actually know something and are responsible for grading potential early entrants told Desmond he wouldn't be picked in the first 2 rounds....which is the only two rounds they actually grade you on. It's either 1st round grade, 2nd round grade, or "go back to school"...Desmond was given the latter.

What if Jackson gets the same grade? Even Phil Parker, who knows a little something about Dback play, is on record as saying that Jackson is money in man coverage, but he still struggles to understand overall responsibilities in zone coverage. The NFL guys who are responsible for the grading may say that deficiency keeps him out of the top 2 rounds.

So I wouldn't go so quite that far if he decides to return....

He's a top 3 corner no matter how you slice it this year. I would bet at least that many corners get drafted in the 1st round. Depending on the teams involved that could fall in love with him he could even be the first one taken. I don't see how he comes back. It'd be impossible to improve his stock in that regard really. Only one way to go but down. So if he's coming back it'd have to be for wanting to get his degree/promise to his momma deal like King had. I'd be shocked quite frankly if he comes back. As much as I'd love for him to be back and his leaving will hurt I don't see it happening.

He should go. He is way better than King was. King's numbers his Jr. year were inflated by some terrible passes that our d-line caused, but JJ is a real deal cover corner. There are also instances of guys coming back and realizing they have to watch their knees and they end up mediocre in their senior year. Clowney and Adrian Clayborn are two such examples.

If we’re talking coverage I agree and that’s probably most important as it relates to NFL but King is the best tackling corner I’ve ever seen. He never missed.

Good for Jackson, he balled out this year. It would be different if he were a true JR, and wasn't graduating in May. We have some quality corners coming back next year.

The league is about pass rushers and cover corners. If he can lock people down in man coverage he is at minimum a slot/nickel corner as soon as the ink is dry on the contract. NFL defenses are in base only 50% of the time. His measurables are more important right now than his inability to understand zone concepts.

JJs MEASURABLES are way better than King’s were. JJ looks like Richard Sherman and is fast. King looks like a safety. JJ is just as good but not necessarily better than King was at Iowa. Keep in mind that King has the 2nd best PFF grade of any rookie CB and the 5th OA rookie grade. Oh, and his OA CB grade is 14th among all CBs. King got drafted in the 5th but is playing like a first rounder.

Well put. Do not sell King short. The NFL sold King and Hyde short on draft day. But that does not mean they were not great corners. If anything, Hyde and King proved to be under-rated by the NFL.

he just might leave. but i do trust Phil Parker who said he doesn't feel JJ is as ready as he could be. still needs work. i'm holding out hope.
