Carver-Hawkeye Arena will now contain Mediacom Court

Embarrassing. Couldn't they just put a logo on it like what ISU has at Hilton with the Pioneer logo, instead of calling it Mediacom Court? You wouldn't get as much money, but come on...
 
We (B1G) already have ValuCity in Columbus and TCF Bank in Mpls. It's the wave of the future. Don't be surprized to see the Linenkugel End Zone in Madison one day.
 
It's too bad we can't get more fans into Iowa City. Maybe this wouldn't have been needed...or could have been prevented one way or another. Maybe I should give Barta more credit than I do.
 
Why are you guys mad at Barta for this? Isn't one of his primary jobs growing the budget for the athletic department? We need more benjamins, and this is one way that is accomplished.

I would be shocked if they renamed Kinnick Stadium. The backlash would be crazy.

I do believe the eventually the University will sell the naming rights to the field. Sooner or later some company will make an offer Iowa won't be able to refuse.

"Blah, Blah Insurance Field at Kinnick Stadium" type of thing.
 
we should get a collection together and try to get the naming rights to ISU's field and name it like "Cyclones Suck Field" or Gohawkes Insurance field (see what I did there).

The key to the contract was referred to as "Mediacom Court" for all men's basketball court, or referred to as mediacom mat. This doesn't necessarily even mean you'll actually see it on the court. Just the contract might just maitain that figures of press refer to the court, mat, or redzone, by it's sponsor. Might just be Iowa Radio, home announcer, or iowa video boards that will display this information. Really pretty harmless if its not a decal on the court itself imo. Especially for how much money it might gather. Much better than comparing it to renaming of the stadium.



And it's a contract, who knows maybe it'll be under armor court in four years. If we get the program turned around may not have to renew a sponsor though.

Hawkstrat hit it right on the head. Chris Street Arena or Chris Street Court would be perfect and it would signal what Hawkeye athletics are all about. Mediacom? Barta needs to step up and make a statement. When is the last time we heard from our leader? Some things money cannot buy.

Oh...Keep on putting up second half performances like we did at Michigan and keep defending the perimeter like we're doing....and name it Wussy Court.
 
I believe the whole state could get behind the Chris Street Court idea. That would be much more fitting and representative of our program than Mediacom horse crap.
