Cartwright - 1st in B1G in Assists last year - this year...

There are three rules that seem to be broken on this thread...

No calling out players. You can be critical of situations and circumstances, but posts along the lines of 'Player X Sucks' won't be tolerated. Violators may be banned

No flame wars with fellow posters. Posts will be removed solely at my discretion. I won't see all of them, but when I do they will be taken down and users may be banned.

Repetitive negative posting by the same user may result in that user being banned. This isn't to say criticism isn't allowed, but broken records are discouraged. We got the point the first time.

This isn't a free-for-all. I give a longer leash than Jon on most cases. But if you act like a punk on here, you won't be allowed on the site.

Respect,
Spank

Hey Willie: not only are you an ***hat, but you are wrong.

Some notable Hawkeyes and their Roland Rating from this year (on court +/- minus off court +/-)
Gatens: 39
Marble: -35
Cartwright: 74
White: 133
Basabe: 39

Suck it.

Making excuse!!!!! Obviously you pay little attention to the games. Had you watched you could see he was wincing in pain and he played through it. It is damn hard to play at D1 level healthy let alone when hurt.

I fans like me make you sick then time for you to find something else to do. Because fans support their team and look for the good along with the bad. All you want to do is **** all over everything. Obviously you are not a Hawkeye fan, do tell us what team you do ROOT for and support.

bye bye Silly Willie!!!! :D

Like I said, Jon has a shorter leash. Think before you post. Regulars on here know what is appropriate.

Criticize all you want, but do it the right way.

This post here is just plain crazy.

FG% bad, 3pt % bad, PPS AWFUL, turnovers bad, defense horrible. But he had a lot of assists playing a lot of minutes on a team that averaged more possessions than most. Anyone with a lick of basketball IQ realized he wasn't a quality guard last year

You are completely full of BS. You minimize his assists because he was "on a team that averaged more possessions than most," yet you bash him for turnovers. His FG% was equal to Gatens last season. So Gatens is terrible too?

It's a very small minded person who comes out after a guy gives us two seasons of everything he's got, then tears him up one side and down the other. Was BC an elite guard? No. But he was a quality guard. Anyone who rips a kid after he played hurt all season and finished 1st in assists last year and 2nd this year, doesn't have a lick of basketball sense.

You clearly are a troll. What kind of fan rips his own players like this?

No telling how good Iowa could have been with a healthy BC this year.

Wassabbe put the friggin sports page down and instead of judging a player by their stats try watching a few games.

All I know is I watched the games this year. He was a turnover waiting to happen...he really had trouble handling the ball and making good decisions.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether BC turned the ball over a few times, or took a few liberties with his shot - he did.
[winks at Dean Wormer]
But you can't hold a whole team responsible for the behavior of one injured player. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the Fran McCaffery system? And if the whole Fran McCaffery system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of the NCAA? I put it to you, Wassabe - isn't this an indictment of the entire American society in general? Well, you can do whatever you want to BC, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!

No. B/c while Gatens shot was poor the past two years he still did other things on the basketball court (like play defense) that helped the team out. And while his FG% was the same as BC's last year, he was more efficient. His PPS was higher.

You're not serious, are you?

1.Making poor decisions have NOTHING to do with injuries.

2.Cully Payne?? For realz?? He makes Bryce Cartwright appear to have high basketball IQ. He was worse than Bryce.

Spoken like someone who for sure has never played before. If you are playing with injuries, a lot of your play suffers. That pain is always in the back of your mind, so it can affect anything you do.

BC did other things on the bb court, too. Like lead the team in assists despite being #4 in minutes played.
PPS is a stat that only applies to shooters. BC is not a shooter. He is a PG.
Don't hate........appreciate.

You could start all-americans in the front court, but without good guard play, you don't have a chance in college basketball. You go as your guards go.

Which is one reason I am excited about Iowa's team right now. If Cartwright is healthy, Iowa has the potential for some of the best guard play in the tournament with Gatens/Marble/Cartwright. If those three play well, Iowa has a chip, a chair and a chance to win 4 games in 4 days. It's been years since I thought that. That's all you can ask. A chance.

I'd start those three, White, and whoever fights their way out of the locker room first as the 5th starter. And tell the three guards to bring us home.

Which brings us to our upcoming game with Illinois. If their guards throw the ball to Leonard like they did in the first half of our last game, they will kill us. If they decide to ignore Leonard and jack threes we have a good chance to win.

Faster and faster to get down the court are two completely different things. Horner gets down the court faster because he actually has the ability to dribble the ball. Cartwright is slow getting down the court at times because he has horrible coordination. Take the ball away and have them race down the court - Cartwright blows him away.

This is correct. Bryce is fast, he is not fast with the ball in his hands because his handles are well below average.

I strongly disagree. Horner was a great athlete. He was no Haluska in the athletic category but he was a step up from BC.

Horner was not that athletic.

Carwright dunked multiple times in half court sets last years off of dribble drives. Horner never did that in 4 years.

Bryce is quicker faster and more explosive. If you put them through a set of NFL combine like tests Cartwright would win every one easily.

Horner was the better basketball player though.

You can't expect anyone to take the guy who said Aaron White had hit his ceiling 5 games into his freshman years evaluation seriously anyway.
