Because Mr. Basketball in Iowa High Schools doesn't always translate to Mr. High Level D1 recruit.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm...because they're not that good. Are former players' kids supposed to be guaranteed legacy scholarships all of a sudden?

Washpun is the in state guy we missed on but I don't follow recruiting enough to know the whole story.

Thought I read in another thread that he was going to go to Tenn or something prior to winding up at UNI.

Don't get me wrong Lohaus and Morgan will be solid for the Panthers in the next few years but aren't program changers for Iowa.

In the '13 class, Iowa took Jok ahead of Morgan. Many questioned it at the time, but Fran thought it was the right decision at the time, and I imagine he stands by it today. FWIW, Jok has probably had a better season thus far this year, and he probably has the higher ceiling of the two. It was a tough call for Fran at the time, and only time will tell if he made the right call.

In the '14 class, Iowa went after a bunch of guards that were higher rated than Lohaus, including (most notably) going all in on Tyler Ulis as their point guard prospect. Lohaus committed to UNI before the start of his junior year. Iowa was absolutely not going to offer him at that point, and after that point, he was very committed to UNI.

Iowa offered Washpun late in the spring after missing on several other guard prospects in the '11 class. Washpun had been a Missouri State commit, but he opened up his recruitment after MSU's coach went to Tennessee. Ultimately, Washpun ended up following Cuanzo Martin to Tennessee, but he only stayed for one year before transferring (and Cuanzo only stayed for three years before moving on himself).

Iowa talked to Jeremy a little bit about prep school. He didn't want to take that route and went to UNI. Jeremy walked away from an offer from Iowa State and chose UNI.

My neighbor is All American high school basketball player , he didnt get to play college BB. I don't know the whole story... Not every man Mr.Iowa or All American or not would be in college basketball.

Are you serious? It is comments like this that make UNI fans hate iowa fans. Do you think they might have wanted to play for a team that is consistantly good. That has a RPI lower than 50? Seriously give me a break.

Are you saying they would have chose UNI over Iowa?

Lute didn't see it that way with me I guess, so I think this is not all that uncommon. Lohaus and Morgan (and my father) should have been more selective in their choice of spouse looking for more hoops dna from the mom side and things may have been different.

What does All-American HS player mean? Is this what he told you because he's certainly good enough to play college ball if it's a legitimate list. Barring injury.

I'm sure they did want that, but those teams didn't want them and that's why they end up at UNI, a school that hasn't had an RPI lower than 50 for the last four years. They are the definition of a mid-major player and if things break right for them this year maybe they will be able to avoid the CIT and sneak into the NIT this year.

UNI has been to the NCAA Tournament since iowa was there last. Don't try the "They were in the 2014 Tournament" crap they were in "The PLAY IN GAME". That means IF they won they would have been in the Tournament.

I thought we were talking about being a top 50 RPI team? Changing the argument already, get better.

I'm not sure what team you're talking about, but UNI has an RPI below 50 for probably the first time in more than 4 years. Since they beat Kansas in 2010, they have made the NIT once and the NCAA tournament zero times. Last year they went 16-15 and didn't play in a postseason tournament. They have a good coach and a good program, but they're not Gonzaga like you make them out to be.

Are there smarter ISU trolls on other sites? I feel like there have to be some semi-smart ISU trolls out there but we just get the really dumb ones over here. Look I have an Iowa name or pic they will never guess I'm a troll.
