Cam Newton being investigated by NCAA for receiving extra benefits?

Stanzi moves up another notch in Heisman consideration. RS honors cancer stricken kids while Newton demands cash for services.

The NCAA has been aware of this since September, before he started putting the up numbers he has.
I would assume that Auburn has been in the know since at least then as well and has had their legal team do a thorough review - and if they thought Newton's eligibility was in question they wouldn't have played him.

Or maybe they're a little bit stupid at Auburn...

Usually I don't like to point and laugh at someone when I don't know the whole story or most of the info but...

this has made my day, and a great blessing in disguise for Stanzi. If somehow Arizona and a few others can bottle up James at Oregon, and BSU loses because Moore has a bad game, it could happen. He's a long shot but one key person is out of the picture

If this is true (and that's a big IF) and if Iowa wins the rest of thier games and makes it to the Rose Bowl (an equally big if) then I'm going out on a limb and say Stanzi wins the Heisman.

The Heisman currently bears a stain (OJ, Reggie Bush, etc). There is going to be an awful lot of pressure for them to pick a class act, from a clean program, and a true patriotic American. It doesn't get any more True American than Ricky ******* Stanzi.

These things matter now, and not to say the QB from Boise isn't a good guy, and I'm not saying Boisie isn't clean, but Stanzi is ******* Stanzi, and he's going to win the Heisamn.

While this may hurt Newton with the Heisman - my hunch to this story is move along, nothing to see here.

BUT, I loved Shadas comment!

^ YES!!!

You're so true, I guess i knew his character would be a factor (almost tebow-like). But did not parlay that with the fact that the heisman has been "tainted" great point Duffman Here's to Stanzi and the heisman!!!

Why does it take 13 months for this to become public?

because cheating is legal in the SEC or something, that's why

The SEC has known about this for about 1 year. Auburn found out in January. The SEC didnt report this to the NCAA until September 2010, at which time the NCAA asked Cam's dad for his financial records at his church.

Is there some sort of deadline the SEC must report these things? Seems kinda shady they would wait 10 months to tell the NCAA.
