Cam Newton being investigated by NCAA for receiving extra benefits?





This has actually been talked about on other forums as well about his fathers curch receiving money from Auburn, a few weeks ago but now it's pretty much confirmed by someone from the New York Times that the NCAA is investigating.
 


I heard it about 20 min ago on a NY Times tweet? I thought it was before he came to Auburn though? Maybe when he was at Florida? I don't know. Man, the Heisman race is definitely wide open if true. Ricky would be in the top 5 if it weren't for two special teams games... (He is in the top 7-8 right now WITH 2 losses)

what are the odds the NCAA will make Auburn forfeit this years games before we get to the BCS championship if it is confirmed?

Well, often when you're on top, that's when the allegations and such come out. There will be people coming after you, whether they're from outside the sport, from another team in the country, maybe from within your conference or even your own team.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what happens with this. Whether it's actually serious or if it's just something that's a mistake, or what.
 




I just read that the church has been questioned about the donation for about 8 months. So not just since he has gotten big.
 




This is one of those situations where if you are Auburn, you probably have to just cross your fingers and go with it. If you bench him to protect you against the chance he might be found ineligible, you lose. If you play him and he ends up being ineligible, you lose.

Only way you win is by playing him and him not ending up being ineligible. So, gotta just go with it.
 


There are two many iffy rules with the ncaa. Look at what happen with masoli
 




What's interesting about this is what the NCAA needs to make a ruling before the national championship game is announced. Didn't Bush investigation take years, It'll be interesting if they do anything before the end of the season. You CAN'T send a team to the national championship game if you think you might strip them of the title months later. NCAA in a tough spot right now.
 






Sounds like he shouldnt even been playing this season. I would be vary nervous if I were Auburn!
