But what in the world were you guys expecting this season? You knew where the season was probably going to be going before it started. This team is playing better, cannot argue that they give 110% effort all time.

I'm just extremely tired of the constant whinning and complaining.

That's my rant today.

Signs of hope, enjoyable to watch, noticeable improvement to name a few.

I have seen really nothing to suggest we will be out of the bottom 3 places in this league in a long, long, time.

Do you want Lick fired for what has transpired this year? If so, why, if you had low expectations anyway? Or, did you want him fired after last season? Wouldn't that be unrealistic to expect a coach to be let go after only two seasons at most any school? Or, were you not a Lick fan in the first place? Just trying to gain some perspective.
 
Just because we expected to suck, doesn't mean that it's acceptable to suck and we should be happy with it.

True, it was unrealistic to expect a very good team this year, but if you want to talk about realistic expectations, then you should also expect "whining" when the team is on track to set the single season loss record...... and this is 3 years into Lickliter's tenure.

"Whining" is a choice. I try to teach my kids not to whine.
 
I want Lick fired for what he's done to Iowa Basketball in almost 3 years. He's made Iowa Basketball the bottom feeders of the Big Ten and put us all to sleep with his boring style of basketball.

Great first post, we can now add another hater to the site.

I expected about 4-5 bigten wins. So right now we are looking at about that hopefully.

just because we are achieving the level I expected doesn't mean I am happy with it or it should be acceptable.

The big ten isn't that strong expept for the top 4 teams (MSU, OSU, Purdue and Wisky) so having 3 BT wins in the middle of Febuary is pretty pathetic if you ask me.

Yep. Join the club. But be prepared to be called a bandwagon fan since you aren't willing to accept mediocrity with a smile on your face.

I'm not a hater. I just don't trust him to get the job done. He's given us no reason to believe that he will.

Let me ask you this. What has Lick done to make you think that he is the right man for the job?

I am not saying that it is acceptable either, however from the start of the season to now we are making progress as a team and the recruits combined with Archie will help this program next year.
 
Question: for those select Few that are Lick supporters
(I myself am not a basher or supporter. I am closer to the basher at this point though as the season has unfolded.)

Why do you hold out hope? that he can get it done?

He took over a solid Butler program, he has NO history of restoring a program which is what we need at this point. And it has been proven that he cannot recruit to the level that we need as a Big ten team.

So please fill me in as to why it is that you are still on the LickWagon? (other then him being a nice guy)

I agree with this post. I expected 5 Big 10 wins, I can't believe people predicted 0 Big 10 wins. I said late in the pre season that the Big 10 was not a great conference this year. The Big 10 ALWAYS has about 4 really good teams so it seems. I did not think the next tier of teams was very good at all, and the bottom of the conference is complete crap.

Low expectations does not mean you have to be happy about it. I do understand some people are a bit over the top with the negativity though. I don't know at this point what to think. Could a better coach simply pull out a few more wins? Or is Lickliter's coaching ability making Iowa look a lot better than they really are......

That's my only question right now and to be honest I have NO answer. This team is so hard to figure out right now.
 
Just because we are going to be at or slighly below expectations doesnt tell the whole story. the beat down handed to us by Purdue shows exactly how far we have to go to be a relevant team again. Posts calling out people for being upset and whining only lead to a argumentative thread that accomplishes nothing.

So I guess that Illinois sucks since they got beat down by 19...yeah, great logic.
 
I think everyone has great points:

1) there is Obvious reasons to want Lick Fired (attendance and product)

2) those that support him for reasons of hope for next years class, his character and the fact his team is continually fighting and hasn't given up (ie ISU)

The problem with you saying the product is bad is that it is a personal opinion. I would rather see this style of basketball then a no defense run and gun. I cannot stand bad defense.
