Cade Knee injury

LOL. WE said the same thing last year I remember.
True, but in fairness, our DL ended up being one of the best DL in the country last year, including having a backup DE drafted high in the first round. So, the fact that we saw the DL dominate a young and banged up OL last year is, in retrospect, expected.

With what we have returning on the DL being very proven, I think it is very fair to assume that this is the toughest DL the OL will face all year.

Steel sharpens steel. Let's hope that the OL is learning under fire.

A quad tear seems pretty unlikely in a healthy athlete. Probably just a strain and that is a big muscle to get calmed down. Seems like the type of thing you can play through, but does not fully heal until after the season. Having some mobility back there is so needed, so let's hope its just a strain that needs some rest. Everyone has injuries in camp.
On one of Kirk’s interviews last week he mentioned he would have more specific info on Cade’s injury on Tuesday (today) Has anyone heard any specifics on Cade’s injury today.

It is Richman and Dunkin at the tackle spots that are the key. Really hoping Parker can come through. If the tackle spots hold up they will be fine.

I keyed on Dunkin and he simple couldn't handle the speed rush, he got boatraced by ever DE that he went against. D was running some simple blitzes and line and backs couldn't pick them up. It's early, the Richman side was actually really pretty good. Lot of work to do, the nice thing is they are like 9 deep and they are competing for playing time. Last year we were playing true freshman. Like the potential.

Fort Kinnick will be as tight lipped about that as can be... Good question I haven't seen anything yet. My guess is he won't be practicing for a few days maybe a week at best case... I don't think the worst case will be all that bad. I think without another setback he'll be good to go by game day. He just won't have all the practice reps everyone would like him to get before hand.

Frankly, the status of McNamara's knee is the only story I care about between now and opening kickoff.

I think I've heard/read every bit of preseason analysis possible. Now its all old. And I expect even those to report on it are out of gas.

Agreed,

The biggest hope for the offense rest in Cade’s abilities. For one thing he has been coached by former NFL QB’s who know what the hell they are talking about, not some lineman with zero QB experience. As Cade goes, so goes most fans hopes for the offense.

We scored seven points in one game. Most people outside of the Iowa fan base “oh looky looky Iowa scored a touchdown!l Nope two safety’s and a field goal. What are the statistical odds of that combination in a game?

I’ll trust Cade’s audibles over Brian’s calls six days a week and on Sundays.

Lot of rumblings out there that he isn’t a tackle and he should move inside. If he isn’t the guy at that right tackle spot, then who is?

Hopefully we're not looking at swinging doors at tackle again...it could be a long year

Some were hoping the transfer from Saginaw St Parker we got would. But he's been nicked up and hasn't practiced a whole lot since spring when he came in. Haven't heard how he's been doing but I'm afraid he's behind now and it'd be tough for him to catch up once he is healthy.

I've heard same rumblings that Dunker just doesn't have the feet for tackle. He's a road grader in the run game but he struggles with pass protection. Putting him at RG with Feth at LG seems ideal. If only we coulda kept a certain 5 star tackle recruit that chose to go elsewhere at the last minute.... We are feeling that some time of way it looks like.

We didn't need that assclown and frankly I didn't want him.

First of all, can we stop referring to Cade's injury as a knee injury? Its not. Its bad karma to suggest otherwise. He has a muscle strain and is being held out of practice as a precaution. Nothing more. Say to yourself silently now.

As for RT, I feared Dunker was out of position there much like Colby was last year. Some guys are just meant to be guards. Personally, I like Dunker's size and physicality at the RG position. I think Feth should be backing up, if not starting, at the guard spots. It seems we have deep core on the interior of the OL, and our LT is starting to look like the next Iowa LT to be drafted. That leaves us with the same hole in the OL since Wirf's left. Can no one shuffle their feet???

I am only half kidding, but maybe we need to move one of the bigger TEs to RT and start sending him through the chow line twice.......

Were you feeling that way before he started taking visits to Oregon and Bama?... Cause sure after he did that he was rubbing everyone wrong. But had he still ended up at Iowa we'd have swept that under the rug so fast. He's literally the one missing piece for this offensive line. Besides center anyway Jones has a lot of improving to do so we'll see about that too
