Hahaha! Like clockwork. The coaching staff even said before last season started that since there was a log jam at RB that they were going to find other ways to get BW on the field (in the slot, returning kicks/punts). Seriously, what's with this vendetta against BW? Give it a rest man.

All we saw of him was in mop-up duty, after Greene had already punished the opposition for 3 quarters. You give Wegher no credit (who was a co-starter for almost a full season btw), while you give all the credit in the world to Hampton. You're silly.

This is pure fiction.

Jewel Hampton was spelling Greene early and often by mid way through that season. He got in the first quarter of games regularly.

Jewel was a bad *** and was easily twice the player Wegher or Robinson were, his block on the LB at Arizona may be the single best block a running back has ever made at Iowa.

BW was average at best, he had one good game against a defeated ISU in which he did look good, but the rest of the time he was incapable of making anyone miss or breaking any tackles. He had good straight line speed and that was it.

BW choose to leave, Jewel was a hawkeye through and through. He did not want to leave he simply got caught doing the same thing allot of the team was doing. Its hard to blame him when Seniors like DJK and Ballard and most likely allot more were setting the tone that it was ok.

During the rest of the regular season he ran for 123 yards. Jewel was average at best, he got better simply by sitting out a season and letting Iowa fans hype him up.

First, re-watch the Arizona game. Compare Jewel's performance to A-Rob's, and then return to this thread and tell me about myths. When health, Jewel was a stud running back. Wegher and A-Rob also were very good, not average or below.

Can we put some faith in the plausible future?? Yes BW was fun to watch when he got into open field, Arob has great ball carrier vision, and Jewel was a bruiser. I don't think any of them were necessarily average but if would rate them I'd put BWs value the lowest just because he wasn't an every down back.

Who knows maybe De'Andre Johnson will surprise everyone. Also doesn't Ferentz have a lot of faith in Canzeri being able to see touches his first year?

With losing out on Coe it'll be important to land a decent back in 12' to sure up our depth but I think we're in decent shape.

I cant disagree more. Hampton was a total package back, speed and power, not at all average.

Of course his stats werent brilliant when he ran behind the best back in the country his only healthy year.

do you have proof jewell was a "speed AND power" back? unless you were at practices you have no proof to support your claims.
