BW

So by this logic, the Chicago Bulls should not have let Jordan come back after he "quit" on the team following '93 season?

I think those situations are a bit different. You're comparing the best basketball player in the world at the time.. arguably ever. A player who had just won THREE NBA titles in a row, was the most widely known athlete in the world at that time.

You're comparing that to Brandon Wegher? Come on now.

Not that great actually... Huge drop off actually when Coker rests.

If Wegher left for personal/family reasons then why did he try to transfer to Oklahoma? The whole family excuse is bogus. It boils down to seeing the writing on the wall that he wasn't going to get snaps his sophomore year if he wanted to stay at RB.

There were 3 better RB's on Iowa's FB team the year Brandon quit. He got to play as a freshman because 1 of those better RB's tore his ACL (Hampton) and we were thing at RB.

Barring injury to two of the three better RB's on Iowa's football team entering the 2010 season... Wegher was not going to get snaps at RB his sophomore year so he quit. End of story.

Unfortunately, Wegher quit before we got to see an official depth chart for a game when Jewel Hampton was not suspended. I suspect entering the Arizona game this is what the depth chart would have looked like:

#1 Jewel Hampton
#2 Adam Robinson
#3 Brandon Wegher/Marcus Coker

And if #1 or #2 went down and we were mid-season Coker would have gotten the nod ahead of Wegher. No way to prove it... just my opinion.

Hahaha! Like clockwork. The coaching staff even said before last season started that since there was a log jam at RB that they were going to find other ways to get BW on the field (in the slot, returning kicks/punts). Seriously, what's with this vendetta against BW? Give it a rest man.

And I don't get why you have such a big wood for Jewel, or why anybody else does for that matter. All we saw of him was in mop-up duty, after Greene had already punished the opposition for 3 quarters. You give Wegher no credit (who was a co-starter for almost a full season btw), while you give all the credit in the world to Hampton. You're silly.

I'm normally for letting players back on the team, but I don't want this kid anywhere near Iowa Football.

Now that a lot of the feelings have been rehashed I think i'm going to have to agree that he isn't the type of character person that I'd want around the team.

I have been hearing about Morningside for awhile but I haven't seen anything official. My guess he still shows up at USD or SDSU.

/end of thread.

The very misleading headline was used by a d-bag freshman poster on another site posing a totally unrealistic question of what if BW returned to campus, how would people feel. BW's gone, made his feelings pretty well known when he thought he was going to Oklahoma. I don't think the kid has it in him to get back into school and eventually get back on the team. And I don't think the staff would take him. They shouldn't.

Brandon Wegher leaving the Hawks caused me and my family a great deal of harm and took food off our table... oh wait... no it didn't. So I guess if Kirk would be OK with it so would I.

What.. what? What are you talking about? The NFL is littered with white defensive backs and running backs. So is D1 college football.

Interesting choice of words. Do you think all white defensive backs and running backs are "litter" in the NFL? White trash, perhaps?

If the Hawk's offered Anthony Hubbard...
We all are in debt to Mr. Hubbard. Due to Fran's pioneering work in the field of "recruit exceptionalism" there is literally not a high school (or Juco) kid in America we cannot pursue in good conscience. The benefits are clear as we now have a much larger recruiting base to work from. I see national titles in our future with none of the messy side effects that these teams have experienced.

I'm sure that's what he meant. It's very obvious that Kaldy is a racist. From the not so subtle racial undertones in most of his SEC>B10 rants to his insane claim that Larry Bird is nowhere near Magic Johnson's level. Kaldy's got some white guilt that he's dealing with.
