Can someone tell me if it is true BW is back enrolled at the U of I? If is is true is there any intention of putting pads back on? IT came across my Twitter a few hours ago.

My guess is it's just a clever headline. Would be extremely interesting if he's enrolled though.

Even if he is at Iowa taking classes no way he is back on the team, its water under the bridge now.

While I mostly agree with you, The more I think about it I don't see why he shouldn't be welcomed back. What are the FACTS on his release again?

If he truly left to deal with personal issues (fathering a child) I don't see why he couldn't come back. Sure he left at a pretty inopportune time but it's not as though he was kicked off the team. But I guess i could be miss remembering the situation.

and I'll be honest...we could use him. Assuming he's in shape.

I have no problem with him coming back, I just dont see it happening. Had he not left the team i think he would have been the best back Kirk has had when all was said and done. And what I meant by water under the bridge, is Kirk isnt going to worry or waste time/resources on him, he has to think about the present and future and as of know BW isnt apart of it. But I would welcome him back.

Really? He got a couple girls pregnant - flaked out - left our team - left school - went to Oklahoma - joined their team - flaked out again - left their team and their school and moved back home. Sounds like a winner to me.

I don't think he left on bad terms, but if he were to come back it definitely wouldn't be this season. He would have to be in good academic standing and then they would possibly let him on the team for next season. And probably as a walk-on, making him earn his scholarship again. Especially since he had a free year while not playing. I for one would welcome him back as well. We could use him. Estimated time before Kaldenberg replies that he won't see any playing time at all and is too scared of being buried on the depth chart?

Forgot about the whole Oklahoma deal...

Not that it matters but did he really knock up 2 girls? I don't really consider leaving the team to deal with personal issues flaking out but the whole Oklahoma deal was a little off.

Do you know the details of his personal situation? If not, then I don't think you should judge the kid. You don't know what kind of situation he's in.

Would it be fair to say that if he is back he would have checked into if he would be able to get back on the team, and when.

This is exactly what it is. It's just the title of a thread over on HI discussing if Kirk would allow BW to come back to the team if Brandon decided to do so. I suppose it's a good way to get site hits though.

figured it was that or he happened to be driving through Iowa City or something.

Check with BrianKaldenberg he was a big fan and always had some positive news on BW.

edit; Gohawks, didn't see your earlier notation.

+1

if if if if if.....think of what a great combo Coker and Wegher would be.

Not that great actually... Huge drop off actually when Coker rests.

If Wegher left for personal/family reasons then why did he try to transfer to Oklahoma? The whole family excuse is bogus. It boils down to seeing the writing on the wall that he wasn't going to get snaps his sophomore year if he wanted to stay at RB.

There were 3 better RB's on Iowa's FB team the year Brandon quit. He got to play as a freshman because 1 of those better RB's tore his ACL (Hampton) and we were thing at RB.

Barring injury to two of the three better RB's on Iowa's football team entering the 2010 season... Wegher was not going to get snaps at RB his sophomore year so he quit. End of story.

Unfortunately, Wegher quit before we got to see an official depth chart for a game when Jewel Hampton was not suspended. I suspect entering the Arizona game this is what the depth chart would have looked like:

#1 Jewel Hampton
#2 Adam Robinson
#3 Brandon Wegher/Marcus Coker

And if #1 or #2 went down and we were mid-season Coker would have gotten the nod ahead of Wegher. No way to prove it... just my opinion.

I would have put it more at

#1 Adam Robinson
#2 BW
#3 Jewel

Also BW was the best back coming out of the backfield as a safety valve.

If we dont have another back that can help out Coker I think he gets banged up like AR.

Kaldy you can just come out and admit you hate white people. We all know how you feel. Just stop beating around the bush.
