Butler/Pitt

Butler, the only way you lose is if you foul. They fouled.

Pitt, the only way you lose is if you foul. They fouled.

Unreal.

They were both fouls.

I hate to see a game end on the foul line but its pretty difficult for a ref to swallow the whistle on either one of those.

Normally, I do think refs offer a little more contact in those situations but both, to me anyway, were easy calls.

His hands ended up straight in the air, but that was well after he grabbed the Butler players arm. Give credit where credit is due, that was another stellar officiating performance.

The refs deserve props... you always hear people complaining about the refs swallowing their whistle at the end of the game but these guys made the calls when it counted.

should have known Duff would beat me to it :p

The refs deserve props, but both were easy calls. The players have to know to stay away from the foul, so any contact is a foul.

The Butler foul was bad, the Pitt foul was worse.

The first call against Butler was god-awful. 50' away from the hoop, and no chance that the Pitt player would make the shot. He was falling out-of-bounds on his own, and the Butler player did make contact but there was contact like that not called throughout the game. The second call had to be made given the first god-awful call. Anyone else recognize the big-ten ref (slicked-back hair...Jimmy Hoffa look-alike). He pointed to the sideline as if the player stepped out-of-bounds, though. Figures big-ten's pathetic refs factored into this game.

What are you people smokin' tonite? The refs were right on the money here. It was the players that made bad plays.
