Glad it went to the most deserving guy. I would have been disappointed if Robles would have got it due to the media love.

I agree, Burroughs, to me, was the best wrestler I saw this year. However as I was looking at the breakdown, I decided to do a little math.

I figured out the total dual meet points the wreslters scored(as if all their matches were dual style) and the total number of tourney points(bonus only, as if they wrestled all tourney matches). Also, since they didnt all wrestle the same number of matches, I also did the average for each.

Dual Pts/Ave Tourney Pts/Ave

Burroughs 42/1.17 151/4.2

Oliver 38/1.3 139/4.79

Robles 45/1.25 167/4.63

Reader 35.5/.91 155/3.97

Russell 18.5/.49 128/3.37

I realize that the Hodge is awarded for a lot of different reasons and criteria, but based on points/points averages, Robles stacks up pretty well. And as much as I hate to say it, Oliver is the best of the group for the average points scored.

Thoughts?

Robles wrestled the weakest competition of the finalists most of the year. I don't know how a guy with one leg can wrack up so many tech falls though. Still impressive.
