Burn it to the ground

With games against NW, IL and Minny, along with some lower tier bowl game, I don't think 9 wins is that much of a long shot.
A lower tier bowl? Yipeeees. We are becoming Dan McCarney's less crappy ISU teams.

Barta totally botched the Lickliter hire but I think he redeemed himself with Fran. Perhaps he learned from that mess and will do a better job if the time comes to look for a new football coach. I'm no fan of Barta but I would hope he learned his lesson. The thing that does bother me is that stupid contract he gave Ferentz. Whatever. Fire everyone!

Fran is better than Lick, that is true. But last year's collapse burned some goodwill. We've moved backwards from where Bowlsby had us. And Bowlsby moved us backwards from where Bump had us. BTW, is it a requirement that our next AD have a name that starts with "B"?

First of all before we get started here I'd just like to thank the staff of the Duck Commander Independence Bowl. It's been a tremendous couple of days down here in Shreveport, Louisiana, and our team is thrilled to have the opportunity to play in such a wonderful place. The locals have been great (http://www.ktbs.com/story/27016140/shreveport-man-arrested-on-aggravated-incest-charge). I really can't imagine a better bowl experience.

They are coming for you Ferentz. Run!

So what? KF won 2 B1G title in 3 years at one point. Blabba da Hut is a smarmy POS and Iowa can do 100X better than him. He is Gene Chizik and Lane Kiffen rolled into one fat ball of crap, he is cut of the exact same cloth as those scum bags.

Are you saying you don't like him?

Boy, when it rains it pours. Of course, social media allows us to make it rain a little more... That being said, as a Hawk fan for 35 years, all of the fan discension is concerning. When your fan base starts to become divided (i.e. remember divided nation Boy Wonder caused) you can't move forward. The Davis experiment is obviously not working. And if Kirk doesn't pull the plug on this failed experiment I will truly lose my waning confidence in Kirk. We are 5-2 ... but we know we are not a GOOD 5-2 team. It's been a few too many years since we have been a GOOD team. Sometimes change simply just needs to happen in order to move forward ... And while I know Kirk isn't going anywhere in the the next 2 or 3 years, I wouldn't be upset to see it happen sooner ... to simply get a fresh start and bring together ... hawkeyenation.

Bielema would be a good choice, in my opinion, but he would never leave Arkansas. I think Arkansas sold the family farm to get him AND keep him..

Replace "Beds are" with "Iowa's program is"......

This season with its so called easy schedule could be a turning point for the football program.

I see 7-5 as an outside possibility with 6-6 s most likely to happen. Even at 6-6 it might be time for a change in Iowa City.

I would have no problem with BB coaching this team. He is a proven winner in the BIG. The only issue is that I don't see him surviving next season with Arkansas but think Kirk will be here until 2018. Every program in the BIG aside from OSU and Wisky would take a look at him.

Im not completely sold on the Fran hire, are we better off than we were with Lick? For sure, but after his first 4 years the best he could manage was a play in game. Iowa has a very rich basketball tradition and it is not unrealistic to make the tourney (I don't count the play in game, but that's me) every year or at least every other on an average. Even if you belong in the "little ol' Iowa" school of thought you have to agree Iowa should be capable of being one of the 40 best teams on a yearly basis. (I say 40 because of all the auto bids for po-dunk schools).

But perhaps that is Barta's genius. Make a terrible hire and lower expectations then bring in an average coach who looks great by comparison.

I know enough people who were in IC when Blabba the Hut was there. Lets put it this way, the next person I hear say a nice thing about him personally will be the first. You gotta understand that people in IC love to cheer for the players and coaches, and I RARELY hear bad things about players and coaches. With da Hut it is just the opposite, not a good word is said about him. Brash? Fine. Cocky? I don't care. Douchenozzle? I got problems with that.

Someone I know very well and whose opinion I trust knew him well in college.
Says he was one of the nicest and sweetest guys.

So, there's one.

The days of system football are done. Unless you are an elite enough recruiter to bring in talent that fits your system. Ferentz is certainly not that. Today, at a college like Iowa, a coach has to be able to adjust schemes based upon the talent on the roster. It appears that Ferentz is more concerned with trying to make his system work than he is trying to actually win football games. He wants to win a certain way and he wants to do it with "his guys". Rudock is his guy. He's a hell of a kid. He's going to be an outstanding Dr. some day. I have no doubt about that. With that said, he should not be this teams QB anymore. The fact he is such a good kid shouldn't earn him the starting role. His performance should, and it just hasn't been there.

CJ has done damn near everything he's been asked to do, and when he's been in the game he has found a way to make things happen in order to win football games. He deserves a shot to be the man. Not just a couple series here and there. Give him the reigns and see what he can do. If he doesn't get that shot he's going to leave just like Willies has. There's not much else to lose at this point. If Ferentz doesn't do that then this is purely an ego thing. It's going to appear as if he doesn't want to start CJ because he's afraid CJ will prove him wrong and everyone else right.

Outstanding post.

Look at the following Old, Fat, Out-of-Shape Slobs: The Michigan HC and OC, the HC at Arkansas, Charlie Weiss, wherever he is now, and the OC at Iowa. None of them are doing too well. Could it be their minds don't work too well in pressure situations? Seems like it. [Saban is hardly an Old, Fat, Out-of-Shape Slob.] So let's not have another one of their kind at Iowa.

Except for the fact that Iowa is BB's dream job and he has the tigerhawk tattoo to prove it. He would come to IC in the right scenario.

This program needs to be burnt to the ground so we can have a fresh start. Dark times are a coming

I'm going to file this one in the category, where is that file, yeah there it is, OVERREACTION. Yep, I'm saying this is an overreaction.

Nothing to see here...keep walking...we're walking...

I don't think I ever implied that we should be happy with some crappy bowl. I only suggested that it is not totally unreasonable for Iowa to get 9 victories this year, and that if that occurs it would be very difficult to fire KF.
