Bulaga/Dace

In reading various reports and tweets from Iowa media members and what Bulaga and Dace have to say, I just don't think Bulaga will be returning. He has not said that, he said he and his family have an idea, but he has not yet decided.

My guess is there could be a post-game Shonn Greene type announcement from Bulaga.

Marc Morehouse has tweeted that Dace has filed the paperwork to petition for a sixth year, but Dace is not sure yet what he is going to do. I think if you have a shred of thought to returning, you file the paperwork just in case...so I would not read into that. Dace said today that he will treat this like his last game, but still with the thought he could come back.

Morehouse just tweeted me that Bulaga has said he would announce after the game.

I think 99% he is gone. If he were staying, why would he wait to announce it?

I agree that does not sound like a guy who is returning. Hard to argue with his decision, considering the uncertainty with the labor issue in the NFL for the 2012 season. I was hoping for his return, but he has earned the right to do what he wants,no doubt.
Jon, still having posting problems on this site...noticed my e-mail address is wrong in my profile but I cannot seem to correct it....the problem is my e-mail address ends in
.net, not .com as it is shown...just wonder if that is causing the problems with posting? Thanks for any help.

I'd say Bulaga's gone too, based on the whole "I'll announce after the game" thing...as has been said, why wait til then if you're staying? I hope he's waiting to announce because he wants to see how he handles an all-American lining up against him...and in that case, I hope he's gone...if you get my meaning.

Imo, I think going to the NFL would be a mistake on Bulaga's part. Based upon his health issues and his level of play this past season, I really don't think he is ready and may not make a final roster, if he goes. Another season at Iowa would give him time to develop more and give him an opportunity to increase his draft stock considerably. If he goes, we'll see how high he goes in the draft. I could see 4th to 6th round or undrafted. Just my opinion which is worth zip, but we'll see.

They don't cut 1st and 2nd rounders...he'd make someone's roster unless there's an IR situation. Throwing away signing bonuses isn't the NFL's style...but I agree with you, I think he should stay...but then again, my name's not "Brian Bulaga" and if he's hearing differently, it becomes awfully hard to say no to millions of little George Washingtons whispering in your ear.

LOL. This is so wrong on many levels. Bulaga will be a first round pick and he will have a nice, seven figure signing bonus. Could he go higher if he comes back another year? Yes, barring injury. But, injury concerns may be exactly why he goes to the NFL now. He is almost assured millions and physically he is ready.

I think Bulaga is ready. And the more i look at NFL teams the more teams I see that could use a true LT. Pace is probablt done in chicago. GB needs to replace both tackles. Det. has to replace Backus soon. Seattle has to replace Jones. Buffalo needs two tackles. St. Louis drafted 1 last season but they may need the other. Pitt needs ol help. There are plenty of teams that have tackle as a need and Bulaga will impress at the combine. If he plays well tuesday he could be the 2nd rated prospect going into the combine.

There is no way that I bulaga goes pro he gets cut. As one poster said first and second round picks don't get cut and bulaga is an walt second round pick worst case. Steinbach and Nelson were too. Nelson got hurt and steinbach would later sign the richest interior ol contract in history at the time he signed it

I don't think he is ready. He did not look as dominate as other iowa linemen in years past (ie: Gallery, Yanda, Stienbach). I though Raiff was as strong as BB this year....

We'll see, Jon is all I am saying. Bulaga is nowhere near the player Gallery was when he left and Gallery has had a very tough time in the pros. And I personally felt Reiff was far more dominate than Bulaga this season. Question......could Pryor go pro as a sophmore?

I agree with part of your posting. Your opinion is definitely worth zip.

Pryor is a true soph. And not eligible. If you don't think Bulaga is ready what makesyou think pryor is? He can't read defenses yet. He will need all 4 years and still might have to change positions. Iowa could have 4 players drafted in the first 3 rounds this season- Bulaga, Edds, Calloway, and Spievey.

Going pro is the right move for Bulaga... he is a likely first round pick and far be it from any one of us to tell a kid to not do what he wants to do because of classes that he can finish at any time.

That doesn't make me happy about it, but it is the right move for him.

vbeachawk, you really are clueless, except re one thing.

Your opinion really does mean zip.

If you think BB is a 4th to 6th round pick or could go undrafted, you just don't have a grasp on the situation. Anyone that is so far off base makes it hard to debate because they aren't debating based upon anything realistic.

There are not many college ol's that step right in and dominate in te NFL. Gallery, were he not in the wors organization in the NFL, would have had a better rep

as for him not being ready I really don't know that there is a poster on this board that would have any idea of that. That includes me. Unless mike mayock is secretly posting on the board

Pryor cannot go pro, he has one more year before he is even able to leave...not sure how you think Buluga is a 4-6th round pick and think Pryor is a possibility.

Kirk and the right individuals have provided Bryan with every piece of information he needs and the decision was made based on that. The 4th-6th round comment really hurts your opinion badly, that just will not happen or even close to that.

Jon: Let me just say that the word in IC, from someone close to the situation is saying that prolly you are 75% chance correct. After the Orange Bowl, Bryan will likely have an agent working for him.
