BTN+

I've been paying for these pre-season snoozers since the BTN became a thing or ESPN 3 (which i pay for with my cable subscription). Mostly because I've lived out of state for most of it - so, it's not really out of no where. I am with you in the fact that - it's crazy that it's harder to see an Iowa Men's basketball game in 2016 than it was in 1990 but it's as easy as, if you aren't happy with the product, get a refund or don't pay for it. The streaming world isn't perfected yet, far from it - I wish it was, it's not and I know that going into the purchase. I was furious Sunday - i planned my entire around it, but in the end there's not a lot I can do about it besides cancel my subscription which I am not doing because I am hopeful the next game is better.

Agree completely and If $2.50 is too rich for your blood, listen on the radio. If $2.50 to the university that you support is ridiculous then steal the product off an illegal stream.

That is like saying since a gallon of milk used to be $.25 and a gallon of gas used to be $.50 that it should always be that way. Guess what, things change. People used to get OTA antenna signal and 3 stations. Then they moved to cable and they paid for what used to be free, same with satellites, they pay for networks on them as well, so no the games haven't been "free" for most people for a long time now.

Plus never before were games available outside of the state. Now alumni in North Carolina, California, all over the country can all experience the games. Give me the current system 100 time out of 100. The Iowa athletic department is thriving, enough money to do all sorts of improvements and upgrades.......yet people want to complain about $2.50.....what a joke.

I would pay 10 per game on a BTN alternate channel. By your rational I assume you would be fine if next year they put all games on this and charged $2.50 per game and you still had to pay for BTN anyway because it is packaged in with other channels you want? The joke is we already pay for BTN, then the take away part of the reason we pay for it and charge us again.

And please quit talking about how much it is. I highly doubt anyone gives a rip about the money, it's about principal. But if they do care about the money, it's because they don't have it. It's kinda holier than thou to judge someone else's finances.

It's sad we now have to pay to watch these games when before the BTN almost every game was televised on TV for free.
This bothers me also. I mean we pay for the BTN subscription from our provider, and now we have to fork over more money for glorified scrimmages? No thanks. Con artists.

To be honest - I'd probably pay double what they are asking maybe triple - but I *might* complain about it further than a snarky twitter mention with the current feed. Game 1 besides starting 5 minutes late, was fine - and... at $10, who cares really and how mad can I be. $10 doesn't really stretch in the entertainment world any more.

Also if you think about it, $10 is a ridiculously high price considering how much you pay per channel with cable.

You're coming off as very "I'm better than you because I have more money". People are on a Hawkeye message board venting and you're jumping into the conversation you clearly don't even care about on your high horse. What's the point of you being in this thread right now? To let everyone know you can afford it so everyone else sucks at life? Or just to tell everyone to quit venting Hawkeye stuff on a Hawkeye message board?

Lol you pay $1 a month for BTN and that gets you 80% of the season. If you wanna be outraged, then complain about what you pay for ESPN to get what 10 BB games a year?

I don't think my opinion is being on a "high horse" at all. I think people complaining about $2.50 a game are being whinny children. If that is breaking your bank, then yeah I am sympathetic for that......yet I'm guessing the $2.50 isn't hurting but maybe 1% of the people complaining.

We shouldn't have to do that though. I pay my subscription dues to my service provider that supports the university and I am sure back in the day when these games were televised for free they got paid for those ads I had to watch.

But whatever, these are glorified exhibition games anyway. I think they are hurting themselves by not making these games available. These games are good to develop an interest in the season, they should want people/kids watching these games for free.

Those 99% aren't complaining about $2.50. It's not hard to understand. We are pissed because we paid for a product that doesn't work. You argue you get what you pay for in one post than you say it's 10 times more than the actual BTN channel that actually does work. If I'm paying 10 times more for it, it should be in 4K.

Your service providers don't "guarantee" you all the Iowa games. ESPN doesn't "guarantee" you all the Iowa games.

This is a business, and these are games that won't make money, or at least offset the cost of production to carry it on ESPN or BTN. That is the reality, so the option are to not carry them at all, or charge a monthly fee that gets you access to non money making Games (volleyball, women's BB, baseball, and 4 Iowa men's BB games).

Sorry brah, but the reality is the BTN or ESPN will lose money to carry Iowa vs Savanah st., that is why it ain't on those networks. So yeah, I'm happy that I can pay a paltry $2.50 instead of driving to Iowa City and going to the game or getting it free on da radio.

I know they don't "guarantee" being able to view all the games. But I still say they are making a mistake not allowing people to watch these glorified exhibition games for free. I can't believe there are a crap load of people paying the BTN2 fees to watch these games.

I'm down for paying $50per month if they can figure out technology .

What's the difference in price between streaming it and putting ithem on a BTN alternate? They already have announcers. Local advertising can't make up that price?

I'm curious if the people who asked for a refund did it for the money or to prove a point that their product needs improved .

Meciacom purchased these games a couple years ago, and the BTN plus carried them as well. Today they don't do that, so this tells me that Mediacom decided these games weren't worth carrying any longer.

These are not games that ANY network can make money on. Consider them just like Women's BB, volleyball, wrestling, baseball, etc. I for one am glad that I can pay $10 and get 4 regular season games and an exhibition game as well.

I'd pay $10 a month to watch the PTL - I just wanna see the team. I am unhappy with the product just like everyone else - i think it's crap that it doesn't work and I am paying for it, but grand scheme of things? I get it - i could have nothing cause if it isn't on BTN+ it's not gonna be anywhere. I also understand that internet streams are dodgy... cable TV can go out too ya know - or satellite - It's not 100% guaranteed that you are going to get the product you paid for - that's likely also in the terms of agreement contract that you click on when you sign up. I am also positive that they offer refunds for services not provided even tho, again, I am sure they probably aren't legally obligated to.

I completely disagree. Price matters. If I'm dropping $25 per game, then yeah I'm upset. What you are getting is Womens BB, Mens BB, Volleyball all the games for $9.99 a month. The B1G/Iowa isn't making a mint charging that, especially considering the majority of people are paying for one lousy month a year.

When you get the "steak special" at a dive bar for $7.99 and that includes a salad and potatoes do you expect the same quality as getting a steak from a high $$ steakhouse for $80? Of course you don't, I guess I just view paying $2.50 for a game in the same manner.

Listen I'm not saying it doesn't suck, because it did, and I was pissed off. What I'm not going to do is ask for my $2.50 back for one bad feed. I've had it the last 2 or 3 years I think and every other game has been fine.
Not for me. I watched (tried to watch) 2 women's games and two men's games.
1st women's game ended the feed before the game was over.
2nd one froze as bad as the men's game
1st men's game started late
2nd men's game, well we all know what happened there.

If I order a product I expect to receive what I ordered. If I promise to do a job, I deliver 100% and expect 100% compensation.

If you're willing to accept mediocrity or less, then that's your prerogative. Don't know why you feel the need to get all superior on the rest of us.
