BTN Network coverage of Spring practice

Don't you find it ironic that you being bothered by someone else's pet peeve means you win the "pettiness" contest?

Bothered seems pretty strong don't you think.......I guess I'll look at what I said again, but I had felt like I was expressing my opinion that at one time we had no options and now we do.

It seems you however are trying to discredit my opinion which seems…well….I guess you know what it seems like.

Some of them are, I think the same thing happened last year, because we dont have an actual game the BTN isnt too keen on covering a controlled practice hence the online streaming only.

And if these games drew d*ck outside of each team's respective fanbase, I'd be okay with that. But pretty much only Michigan fans will watch their actual "game", same with Ohio State, Nebraska, etc. Iowa fans would still watch, even if it were only a practice.

They aren't going to advertise when they will show it on air, they want you to pay 8 bucks to stream it. Iowa doesn't have a game so it isn't as marketable, but yet the B10 network airs hours of non-watched sports such as womens lacrosse and crap like that. They did the same thing during basketball season. I wrote the network about my displeasure....

You can do so too. Contact Us - Big Ten Network

Obviously this is just my feeling and I apologize in advance, but we are able to watch a spring scrimmage on the internet and we have to pay to see it. At least we have the option…

Honestly of all the things to be bothered by this seems low on the least.

Why the comment "Honestly of all things to be bothered about"? That would seem to indicate you're bothered by HH's opinion. That strikes me as condescending, petty and hypocritical.

It shouldn't...there is a whole lot of irony here, you being bothered by me supposedly being bothered....I mean honestly where does it end. For what its worth I have read some good insights by you, so I'm not going to challenge you further, but as a rule we America's or rather people in general, really find a lot of things to be upset about. Seems silly and pointless to me and if that is petty (it isn't) and condescending (debatable) so be it.....

I wasn't happy with it but it makes sense from a business standpoint for two reasons. First of all, what we had yesterday was not a spring game, so it's less likely fans of other teams will watch. When selling advertising space, you need to predict viewership. No way you could charge as much for a practice that basically only Iowa fans would watch as you could for a full spring game, even at Indiana or Minnesota.

Secondly, BTN knows that Iowa fans are among the most passionate in the conference. As a result, many of us went ahead and paid the fee. I already canceled, but I wouldn't be surprised if, in about 3 weeks, BTN has a bunch if previews for upcoming web-exclusive Iowa content. They don't care about the 8 bucks, they want you locked in from now until January and there's no better way to build a customer base than this.
