Rated neck-and-neck with Fant as a TE prospect coming out of HS (and both miles ahead of Hock in rating). I was also hoping for raves about him. He has had a lot of injury set-backs, hopefully things start to click eventually.

BF says trying to win more than 9 football games. Does that mean he expects to win at least 9? Maybe a slip up there on coach speak releasing an expected win total to the media. The team's talented enough but the schedule is tough. Should be a fun one to watch play out.

I like these BTN guys, but to suggest that they are some ultimate authority on anointing who is winning what is a little hard for me to believe.

Most of the computer models had us as a top 10 or top 15 level team last year, we just happened to lose every close game.
If our offense improves slightly and we have another strong defense we should be in good shape.
Winning close games comes down to winning the turnover battle, good special teams, and likely a little luck.

that's what irked me about Dinardo's remark about Iowa's offense not improving much. The guy comes to Iowa City once a year for one practice and he's an expert about our offense.
We need to improve more than slightly.
Every other team is improving as well.
I'm still watching and reviewing stuff so I don't have a comment about what was said.

Yeah they are usually overly positive. And today they weren't. Much more subdued then they've been in the past.
But then again like you said, take what they say and run it through a filter. A couple years again Dave R was really talking up Young at WR.
I've like what I've heard from the coaches. They sound optimistic about things and they're usually the ones slow playing it the most.

I think 1 practice doesn’t say shit. But if I’m being honest with myself I have worries about NS. Idk if it’s anxiety or big moments but man he has a history of not looking good.
I think all his issues are self related and in his head and hope he turns the leaf in that this year. If not then it’s time to get on the bench stats be damned if it factor is not there this year. JMO
I see the stats, I see the record, I also have seen every game and it’s just to flat and straight up bad misses way to many times to feel 100% comfortable about this year.
If he plays how he is capable Iowa wins the Big10, if he has same issues with misses and in his head/low moxie turn the page and get the next guy time and see if he has it.
I’m sure I’ll get buried for it and I hope he comes out big D swinging but I know what I’ve seen and he just lacks something and big moments misses badly and doesn’t play well(I don’t give a funk about OSU or IA ST games I want that guy every game not a fucking yo-yo anxiety filled low moxie QB)
I mean this with the best intentions.
