Brock Harding

I'm surprised that he's getting that much interest. I had him undersized, not a great jump shooter, not a good defender, and not a guy who could manufacture his own shot. On the plus side, pretty good ball handler and could penetrate and find the open guy. Guess that explains why I'm hacking away on this web site and not coaching somewhere. Wish him well.

If Drake keeps on winning and Beth keeps on putting off any announcement on a new coach, then it's likely whomever she is targeting is still in the tournament. The problem with this is that if Drake keeps winning Beth may not have deep enough pockets to compete with the many other schools who are also looking for a new coach.

I say this even though I am still suffering from Alford acid reflux. God, a do over like that would seal the fate of the basketball program.

SPEAK OF THE DEVIL................ just saw this on the web..........

Beth better open that purse wide

He’s a good player, of course he is.
He is. He really needs a consistent 3 pt shot to help his game and neutralize any defenders on him. It is my understanding that he shot a much better 3 pt % in HS. If he was able to get that back, defenders would have to come out on him then he could blow by him to the rim to dish or shot if open. With his size, he'd often drive low and get into no man's land looking for a kickout. He had success with that but it really can screw with the motion of an offense at times.

It would be interesting to see what he could do in an offense with a much more disciplined half court offensive set with controlled motion.

He really does need that outside shot, though.

Let's be honest here. Brock never was that awesome point guard that many anticipated and hoped he would be. There was a lot of hype saying he was going to be the type of guard we have been lacking under Fran's regime. I would say he was just an average big ten guard at best. That's not disparaging him at all. To be average in the Big Ten conference is damn good compared to other power five conferences.

I would say the same thing about Fran's boy's also. Good kids, all three played hard for Iowa, but in my opinion, they would have been just average big ten off the bench type of players at the better big ten basketball programs.

To all three of them I say, "thank you for all your efforts" and best wishes moving forward in your lives.

Harding shot 40% from 3 this season. That surprised me when I saw it, but he really got hot from distance late in the season. A quick point guard who can penetrate AND hits 40% from 3? You bet he's gonna have some good options.

Underestimation of Harding is rampant here. Have you looked at the schools who have shown interest? He will be a junior. Showed good development from his first year. I would welcome him back. Maybe can’t afford him…

He did show improvement towards the end of the season. If he wants to stay with Iowa I am ok with that. He is a good passer. Defense definitely needs work but he has the right coach to correct that.

Also having another highly rated point guard may help him to relax a little bit and not feel so much pressure. If however Ben has someone else in the portal he sees more potential with then Ben should go get them.
