Brian Gregory to Georgia Tech

And he gets a much better position due to waiting.

Sorry, but GTech is definitely more desirable than the UI right now.

From a recruiting standpoint, GT is probably an easier job to recruit to. I will grant you that. But the new Iowa facility is certainly a nice thing to have and Iowa has a more successful history..not that that equates to wins today

Come on, The Varsity is just a short walk from the arena in Atlanta...that is all it would take for me! :)

Not to mention, GT is building a brand new arena scheduled to open in 2012.

Though, it will seat only 8900 people. Then again, arguably, the top program in America, Duke, plays in an arena that seats just 9314 (incl. Standing Room Only people)

GT isn't building a new arena, they are just remodeling their current one.

I guess this write-up I found from the official Georgia Tech bball page must be wrong then. Official college websites have been known to lie once in a while. I guess.

Alexander Memorial is done.

JonDMiller - Not trying to split hairs, but GT has a new practice facility as well. It opened less than 2 years ago: The Zelnak Center.

It's the same building, they're just renaming it. Good try though.

What was Alexander Memorial Coliseum will soon be Hank McCamish Pavilion, named for Hank McCamish who donated $15 million toward the construction of the new home of the Yellow Jackets’ men’s and women’s basketball teams

Well, let's say a couple things about our little bantering time:

a) The 'wording' of the Hewitt quote is a bit misleading. Hence the reason I thought it was a NEW building. My bad on that one.

b) Both schools seem to be doing the same thing(s), and the same time as far as renovating.

So, it comes down to:

Do you want to play in Atlanta, GA and the ACC or in Iowa City and the Big Ten?

I would choose Iowa. But, I am biased.

However, if I could have The Varsity and Turner Field nearby it would certainly make the choice a bit more skewed from a neutral perspective.

Gregory is an energetic recruiter, and so he might work out down there.
Wonder if they gave him an ironclad contract, like Hewitt had.
Definitely a step up in class for Gregory....and not a slam-dunk that he will succeed.
He will be another ACC dbag pulling midwest kids down to Georgia, that much is certain, with his chicago roots...great.

Despite having a ton of talent in his own back yard, he just couldn't get enough good players.

And the Varsity may be the most over-hyped "restaurant" South of the Mason Dixon line.
