Brian Ferentz is Quotable

He's probly the most impressive person I have interviewed re: total control, command, and holding court of anyone. I have interviewed more than 1000 people in my life, easy. He's near or at the top. I can't imagine turning him down on the recruiting trails...but those trails are filled with good talkers ;)

Brian = Future Iowa Head Coach?

I have said from the day we knew we were getting an influx of new coaches....THIS IS A GOOD THING. This program will be "born again" and as for Brian...he will someday coach the hawkeyes...take that to the bank. It is an under the radar season for Iowa, and we all know what that means!

Brian Ferentz will be the next coach at Iowa so long as Kirk can survive the next two years. Assuming he does, (he'd have to really blow the next two years) I think Brian replaces Greg Davis and then replaces Kirk.

I seriously have a really good feeling about this upcoming season. I think we are going to surprise a lot of people.

the guy is relentless in everything he does. I've said It since the day he was hired, opposing big 10 coaches are going to hate Brian ferentz.

How is it that clown trolls have not jumped all over this topic with Pheasant Ridge comments.

Did they finally get axed?

I second this. Does anyone else just despise punt returns? I mean ever since Timmy D was back there I'd just about rather see the regular D be out there with just a deep safety to field it. I'd rather see any punt just fielded for no return than all the risky things that seem to go wrong with em. Seems like the fakes and muffs that go against you just stick in my head and frustrate me the older I get. Even tho the majority of them are fielded fine.

Yep. Sometimes it's not even a bad idea to not have anybody field it. I remember Spievey's fumble right before half in the '09 Indiana game. Iowa's conserva-ball works very well when the Hawks are mistake-free, but even letting your returner touch the ball inside the 20 with less than 30 seconds left in the half is just begging for disaster. We haven't housed a return since Brodell vs. ISU in 2008, and at that point in time, we're just going to kneel on it anyway. So yeah, there are definitely times I would rather just see the defense out there.
