I know, everyone's tired of the Wegher thread.

IMO, what will Iowa's offense miss the most with the loss of Wegher? SPEED. This is a pet peeve I've always had about Iowa's offense: when Iowa's offense has an opportunity for speed, the coaches don't know how to use it.. BTW KOK, please, no more end-arounds with McNutt or even DJK. Is Chaney Jr. still speedy?

I guess we'll see how fast Hampton is.
Go Hawks.

I know 40 times aren't a very good gauge of speed, but I think someone posted the spring 40 times several months ago...

Wegher was slower than any of the guys you named, except Hampton, who I don't believe ran.

MMc - 4.50
DJK - 4.49
Chaney 4.44

IIRC...

**Edit - I think Wegher was in the 4.5's as well, but not faster than the above guys.

After a couple games with Hampton, you will not ask about Wegher anymore, I promise you. He is a hungry beast!

honestly at this point I miss nothing about him, Im interested in the players who actually want to play for Iowa.

Why wouldn't you want end arounds for DJK? He's probably our best playmaker, so I think anytime we can get him the ball in space is a good thing.

Also, was anyone else shocked for a second to see No. 3 break off a 15 yard run at the end of the game? I had a quick "did Wegher rejoin the team" thought there.

you notice him on the punt block too?

the entire bar i was at for the game erupted with a wegher yell. i, however, was the only one that sat in my chair knowing full-well it wasn't him.

also had those guys that think they know everything about iowa football and iowa as a whole, but don't even get the fight song words right.

oh well, i had fun

I agree with the no more end arounds to DJK, that 16 yards he picked up sucked.

That would be a good attitude for everyone to take. I know what's up with Wegher and that's all I'm going to say about it.

I also know why Wegher is not with us this year. It is quite the soap opera. However I like being part of H.N. so I don't feel that I can say what it is about.

I agree with Radman.....No disrespect to Adam or Brandon as they ran their hearts out last year and Adam had a great first game this year and obviously gave 120% or more as he often broke through tackle after tackle but this comes down to god given talent and abilities. Hampton is obvioulsy hungry and he has much more god given quickness and skills as a running back. I think this is the difference and will allow Hampton to give us something we did not see last year.

In that same breath if the offensive line does not open up the holes which Hampton with that quickness can exploit...those abilities could be rendered useless. All depends upon how well that line matures and gel's together as the defensive lines are only going to get bigger and tougher as we move forward. We will see what happens....

Ok, DJK got 16 yards against E. Illinois. How about any other team on Iowa's schedule? You gotta have speed to be successful on an end-around. You don't want to get DJK killed.

I seem to remember someone taking a kickoff 99 yards for a TD against OSU but can't remember who it was that ran away from the defenders, could you help me out and tell me who that was?
