Brandon Schreff surgery this morning

Hopefully Ike holds up in pass pro. The one good thing about Ruddock and his love of short passing is he doesn't hold the ball long.

We were struggling to run the ball with Scherff, I don't think replacing the best run-blocker in college football with a skinny redshirt freshman is going to help that.

I watched Boettger when he was in there. He definitely held his own. Iowa will be fine.

Let's not make it a big deal, the clones spent all last year without their best offensive player Farniok, then lost best receiver Bundridge in the the first game this year. If we start whining, we sound like clones. We'll still win by 3 or 4 TDs.

Good god, this sucks. Isn't his backup Boettger? He's like 6'6 and 270lbs. Guy could have problems with Morressey.

any confirmation on this?

Iowa T Scherff out 2-3 weeks (knee surgery)

Iowa senior T Brandon Scherff is undergoing surgery on his right knee on Tuesday and will reportedly miss 2-3 weeks.

Scherff reportedly injured his right knee during Saturday's game against Ball State but finished the contest. Derek martin, Sports Director at KMA Radio, reports it involves Scherff's meniscus but the ligaments are fine. Many tout Scherff as one of the nation's top tackles. The Hawkeyes face Iowa State, Pittsburgh and then Purdue.

I guessing he has an outside chance at missing essentially no time, and back by Pitt would be my guess. even back in 1992, when scopes were good, but not as evolved as today, brett beilema played either the week of, or week after a minor scope.

depends on how much meniscus need cleaned up, pain tolerance, and infection concerns(how quickly does exterior wound heal)

again, just a guess. As soon as he said 'locked up' in post game it was a dead give away that there was some meniscus issue. but....not bad enough to not go back in

I suspect this is a farce to keep Scherff from getting punked by Iowa State. ISU's d-line, which is among the best in the BCS, had this game circled bince the day that weightlifting video surfaced. They were gonna move Scherff from a first round lock to lucky to sign as an undrafted free agent status, but now that is not possible. I think ISU's defense will outscore our offense 21-3 and with Mangenius in the booth (assuming the structural integrity is not compromised) I think we'll be lucky to keep this game at 56-3 and that is only if we see ISU's second and third string players in for most of the second half.

That hurts no doubt. Hopefully they don't get in there and fine more problems.

"Guys like him and Bundrage deserve to be on the field."

Not a Cyclone fan by any stretch, but Bundrage is a gamer, and that guy plays with a love for the game. He does deserve to be there.

Exactly. I tore my meniscus in college. Had simple surgery where they shaved the torn part of the mensicus and I was walking out of the hospital. Unfortunately, I contacted staph infection and gout and spent a week in the hospital 4 months with an IV in my arm. I hope he makes it out unscathed. He has a hell of a future ahead of him.

I hope this is the case. A setback against ISU would be ok, if we can bounce back vs Pitt. That still leaves the B1G ahead of us, with a run to Indy not out of reach. I wouldn't book the room just yet; but definitely keep an eye on Priceline for the hotel deals (although, if a hot price comes up; you many wanna snag it before MSU fans do-thank me later).

When I saw this thread along with the thread on Ott.... I was really hoping since it was the Cy Hawk week that a clone fan had just started threads to stir stuff up.

Not a good way to start the week.

I wish I were as optimistic about our field goal kickers as you are.

I also disagree with the post about isu having one of the best defensive line in the bcs. Iowa should have the advantage still. They have time to plan and possibly move guys around. I believe one of the guards practice at the tackle position. Ryan Ward could also move back from tight end. With practice time this week I am confident that the coaches can get a lineup ready that will be better than isu.

Not to point a finger; well, ok, to point a finger, this is all Jonathan Parker's fault.

Agree Boettger looked real good ... keep Scherff out this week no matter what and maybe get him back for Pitt ... rest him again with Purdue if he's not 100% and then we have a bye week.

Boettger did great in pass protection, not sure I saw any real fall off in performance there. Didn't see enough run support to form an opinion but I doubt he will be as good as Scherff in that aspect of the game. Also agree the timing is probably as good as it gets for this sort of thing. Considering the clones D, we will be OK. A little more concerned w/ Pitt but a week under the belt won't hurt.

The best part about these threads is watching everyone chime in with every ache and sprain they've had since the 3rd grade, and how that clearly extrapolates to the condition of the player in question.

The only thing better is when people comment on game times because they have a doctor's appointment that morning and were hoping for a night game.

I've actually had a season-ending football injury. When you're out, you're out. You can't wish it better.

Also rehab sucks.
