Brandon Schreff surgery this morning

Scott Westerberg (KCRG-9) is saying that Brandon Scherff is having surgery this morning.
I'm assuming it's his right knee, that he hurt on Saturday.

I can already see the storm building on the horizon. The top story in today's sports section was how psyched up Paw Woads is and how jacked the team is cause this is their "biggest rivalry game." Yes they quoted him as using those exact words.

Clowns will be playing on pure emotion and adrenaline, while the Hawks sleepwalk, stumble, and bumble through the game.

Same as it ever was..........same as it ever was.............

IOWA CITY — Iowa offensive tackle Brandon Scherff is having surgery this morning, according to KCRG-TV.

Scherff, a 6-5, 323-pound senior and preseason all-American, suffered a knee injury in the second quarter of the Hawkeyes’ 17-13 victory over Ball State last weekend. Scherff tried to chase down BSU defensive tackle Blake Dueitt and he recovered a fumble and returned it 35 yards for a TD.

Scherff tackled Dueitt at the goal line and came out of the pile seemingly OK. He took a few steps and fell to the turf. Iowa trainers immediately examined his right knee.

Scherff’s surgery is not believed to be an ACL procedure. In the postgame, he described the knee as “locked up,” which would point to meniscus damage. That’s an arthroscopic procedure that sidelines players from two to six weeks.

He adds a significant toughness factor and leader factor to our team, in addition to all the other known factors. It's good that we will get him back but really need him for isu and Pitt. Plus, it will take him a course games to get back to speed when he gets back. This sucks, we need every man we have

This truly sucks. O-line depth was a concern on everyone's list, but I doubt anyone expected that it would be Scherff that needed to be replaced. Hopefully Iowa can survive a few weeks without him.

So would a win over the Cyclones be an "upset" now that central Iowa media and the Cyclone fanbase is chalking this up a win for the Cyclones now? How demoralizing would it be for the Cyclones to lose to Iowa sans their best player?!

If he is in fact out, I just point out what happened in 2009 when Bulaga couldn't play against ISU....both Clone and Hawk fans thought ISU had a good chance to win, and Iowa destroyed ISU.

Knowing Scherff...he will want to play Saturday. He had to be in some pain on Saturday if he tore his meniscus. I had the injury, and it's freaking painful...you are fine, you are fine, then an angle of the knee pressure and pain...lots of it.

Hopefully Ike holds up in pass pro. The one good thing about Ruddock and his love of short passing is he doesn't hold the ball long.

We were struggling to run the ball with Scherff, I don't think replacing the best run-blocker in college football with a skinny redshirt freshman is going to help that.
