According to Kakert, he has had the offer over a month, but Ellingson didn't know it. I have no idea how that works.

This kid better shoot 45% from three, because he is not a Big Ten athlete.

"UncleHawk: What vids are you watching? He looks to have a quick and easily repeatable shot with a high release. Good handle- pretty good hops."

I guess I'm mainly basing what I see off what I learned from watching an Izzo tape back in a coaching class I took (elective in college a couple years back, not for a profession). The ball seems to get to far away from his chest as he brings it up to shoot. At only 6'3" that could lead to a lot of blocked shots or hesitant shooting.

He looked much better in your video but that could also be because the talent looked better. Just not the Tyler Ulis type talent like I've gotten accustomed to seeing this summer.

Let's not forget that Fran was one of the few to offer Jimmer Fredette.

He see's something in this kid others don't, so until Fran consistently misses I won't critique his recruiting. I say if he offered, let's get em!

This was my first thought as well. They have similar size and similar games, no?

This could be one of the shooters Ulis can kick the ball out to...

I agree that it's with Ulis in mind that Ellingson has gotten more attention from Iowa of late. But I liked what I saw from Scott Lindsey. From what I read he's expected to make a 100% recovery from his leg break by the end of the year. If so, I think he'd make a nice pairing with Ulis in the backcourt.

Good point. Hopefully that's what we have here.

Have to agree with others that this one is a head scratcher. If it were late in the game and others had spurned us, maybe. Offering a one dimensional kid this early makes me cringe a bit. In today's game, a kid has to be lights out from the perimeter if he is going to log minutes because it goes without saying the lack of athleticism will create a problem defensively. Was hoping to have someone in the bag by now (not Ulis necessarily), but we will have to wait and see.

After Ulis beats his man, Ellingson's man and some other chump off the dribble; this kid will be, money, wide open from 3.
