BR has Iowa recruiting class 11th in B1G

According to PR, we made a hard run at Lazard in the last few days. He was all fired up in his presser about it.
Although he did not say it was Lazard, I am only assuming that it was him.

iowa recruited lazard before the 'last few days'........

i guess i was more implying the plural instead of the singular in 'battles'.........

and i don't think the recruitment of lazard can be described as a 'battle'.

'those boys wasted a lot of time and money'.....knee slap, chortle, knee slap.....classic clown.

Iowa did recruit Lazard and may have made last minute run for him. However, ISU did not sign any other players from Iowa so there were not many instate recruiting battles lost. I think it was ISU that stopped recruiting in Iowa this year.

They dun calt him in the past few days and I know for a fact that the YUniversity of Ioa ain't got a WATS line like Ioa State does so they dun spent a fortune on lon distance charges. And we invented the fax and the puter.

Rhoads is again playing the hyperbole overkill routine. His act is pathetic. Guy can't get the results on the field so he hypes up his teams every single year to get the fanbase all riled up only to fall flat on his face. Guy can't write a check he can actually cash.

This so called attempt to go after Lazard was completely immature and completely incorrect. It was clarified on the radio tonight that the call was to congratulate him on his commitment and for keeping his word. It was a courtesy call. Kirk does that on occasion to in-state recruits he knows (recruited).

Didn't ISU do the same thing with the recruit that was going to go to Missouri-whatever his name is?

I know it's a different sport but didn't ISU go after Jok after he verballed to Iowa?

Oh, the hypocrisy. Don't they all do it?

Typical Moo U and their enormous insecurity complex. Rhodekill fits in perfectly with those poopsniffers.
When the final gun sounds this fall, and it's 56-3 Hawks, with Lazard crushed by our LBs and DBs. Lazard's a good kid, and I can give him lots of respect for going to the school of his parents. Hell, I'm putting 2 through Iowa right now, so THAT part of the Lazard drama I can appreciate.
Rhodes knows that ISU will always feel inferior to Iowa. ISU and their little athletic department, minimum for DI status. MINIMUM.

Yes they did. Jake Campos, here's Rhoad's quote to him: "When I told (Rhoads) I committed (Mizzou) he said, ‘Happy for you hope this is right decision for you. But we’re not going to stop recruiting you.’"

Just shows how desperate he's getting. Last year's disaster was with all of his own recruits. So all the hick "I'm so proud of you" crap won't keep his job after another 3-9 year.

And the irony there is that I see often see Campos's dad at Iowa games. My son was on the football and track team with Jake at VHS. Ferentz was at Valley last week, I'm hoping he was putting pressure on Swenson to quit pressuring kids to go to ISU. With Horner as BKB coach, anyone good enough to play BIG coming out of VHS should be headed our way.

Hey Purdue trolls, I see your sorry team behind us yet again. Must suck to be consistently out recruited by your bitter rival. Suck my ****, *******! You too Joe Tiller, and Jerrod Void, and Robert Marve, not you Dorien Bryant, you would probably like it too much.

I HATE PURDUE!!!!!1!! SUCK ON IT, BOILERSUCKERS!!!!!!!!!

Outside sources probably assumed Iowa was going after Lazard but he made it clear for awhile he was going to Iowa State...
With that said is this accurate that we didn't get any higher than 268 with Scheel ?

By all accounts he had a pretty poor senior year. Most of his recruiting hype came from his sophomore and junior seasons.

oh god, the sky is falling, the sky is falling. after all, one guy on bleacher report thinks we are #11. oh, no.........

Well, to be honest, it's not like the rest of the college football world thinks we crushed it with this class.

Paul Rhoads is a quack. Hey pal how many games have you won since you've been there?

Good luck to Allan who will obviously win games by himself?! Last time I checked you needed about 30 solid people on any given weekend to contribute.

you need to post here more often! keep up the good work - and like your sig....

The number itself is not so devastating but Andrew Coppens' commentary is:

Overall Thoughts:Iowa is often the master of taking the undervalued recruit and turning them in to All-Big Ten caliber players. However, this class leans way to heavy on making something out of nothing for my liking, especially on the offensive line.Losing out on Ross Pierschbacher, the state’s best player and a 4-star offensive lineman really hurt this classes chances of being very good. The Hawkeyes had him until Alabama came calling and it was over after that. Iowa couldn’t keep him from flipping. The one area that could be most interesting to watch is at running back, with Smith and C.J. Hilliard coming out of the state of Ohio. Those two were very dynamic on film and could be a good 1-2 punch in the future. Look for Smith to be the one around as a true freshman though. This is a typical Iowa class, but it had potential to be so much more, but the power of the SEC and losing out on battles to in-state rival Iowa State put a damper on the enthusiasm for this class.

Ouch.

If you really care what this guy has to say about a recruiting class, well never mind.
