Basabe or May? They both played poorly.
Need better production out of the 3 and 4 spots to win.

Iowa needs to go:

Cartwright
Gatens
Marble
White
McCabe

YES! And I like Archie getting some minutes to spell McCabe. He has no offense but the kid hustles and rebounds.

i would agree this is our best lineup but not sure these should be our starters. maybe just reallocate the minutes of the players a little differently. up marble, cw, white, and mccabe. lower basabe and may.

I was thinking, how much longer can May & Basabe start? These guys don't really seem to be bringing anything to the table.

I like the lineup you just mentioned.. It seems to be our best group.

But that will surely bring out the "it doesn't matter who starts, but who finishes" crowd. At some point, your best players will end up starting.

You could play both Cartwright/Marble at the same time, but I do kind of like one giving relief to the other.

I think you need to get Bryce more minutes, he needs to get into that flow. If he doesn't he's not as effective. Start him and let Devyn create off the wing. Let White and McCabe scrap away in the middle - you know at minimum they are going to be aggressive.

Rebounding was terrible. We stop the second chance points and make FT's we win. I don't care who was in. No one was boxing out well

Players have off nights sometimes, even pseudo super sophs. It's been posted a ton of times already but Basabe may benefit the most from an increased front court next year which is the best explanation for the inconsistency he's shown this year compared to what he showed us last year.

Let's cut this team a lot if slack the next 2 years, with underclassmen there will be growing pains

One reason to start Basabe is that he wins the opening tip in most every game. Still could shorten his minutes, though, in games where he just doesn't have it.

Yes, thats a good, active, productive lineup, but you can't win with 5 guys. Seems like for the last 10 years we just have too many guys that fill the stat line in only one category, minutes played. We HAVE to get more production from everyone, not just a couple of guys here and there. Though we are getting closer, seems like with Lick led teams we only would have 1 or 2 "statstuffers". Now we are getting production from 3-4 guys. Heck, do NOT count me as a Devon Archie fan but, you know what the minutes I saw him play tonight, he contributed to the team and wasnt just a "waste" like two of our starters were tonight.

We have eight Big 10 capable players, and then Archie who is quasi-capable for limited minutes. But only 3 or 4 those guys are playing consistently. The rest are real grab-bags ... never sure what you are going to get.

We definitely need more Big guy depth. White and McCabe were dragging in the second half, a step slow to balls, just missing rebounds, sloppy closeouts.

Basabe just needs to focus on being the best energy player he can be. Forget offense. Just worry about positioning, rebounding, help defense, putback buckets. He'll come into offense.

May tries to be aggressive, but can't finish. I wish he would quit the scoop shot stuff and just shoot that little pull up jumper. He gets too deep and has no place to go. Basabe looks like a guy with no confidence......almost unbelievable that we seem better with him on the bench. Props to McCabe and Marble tonight.

I think Caff has stayed with this lineup because BC and White give him some juice coming off the bench.

And whatever lineup is on the floor, those five guys MUST rebound better (NEWS flash right). This game boiled down to second chance points, and there were countless times Iowa could have stopped the leak by grabbing a defensive rebound, and it didn't happen. Caff has this club close, but those are the type of winning plays that have to be made to take the next step.

At least May typically brings solid defense. Basabe is bringing nothing right now. I'd honestly rather have Archie out there at this point. He's actually playing surprisingly well.

Archie has made huge strides since the start of the season. Thats what we all wanted to see with McCaffery at the helm. I know its been said a lot lately, but I absolutely love the potential this program holds right now. Everyone is improving (besides Basabe, and who knows what his deal is).
