The at-home experience with football is becoming very comparable to attending the game live.
There are too many bowls with so little emphasis on anything outside of the BCS National Championship Game.
Face values for these tickets are ridiculous, as well, as they are so out-of-whack with what the market is.
I used to be stationed at Fort Huachuca in 1995 and they were selling Copper Bowl tickets for $1.
I believe this was the year that Air Force played Texas Tech.
The stadium was still only 70% full. I thought that dollar tickets would fill up the stadium.
I will say this, it's still impressive how the Sun Bowl just about sells out every game. I know the stadium only seats around 50K, but El Paso/Juarez is not exactly the best place to spend in late December. And, yes, I attended both Sun Bowls that Iowa played in. Once was a drive from Arizona and the other was a drive from Iowa in 1997. Ugh, what a disappointing season.
