I enjoy bowl games. I disagree with the "meaningless" label that people place on the games. They mean a lot to the players, coaches and others as well as a lot of fans. They mean a lot to sponsors and TV networks that cover the games. The lower bowls get higher ratings than top college basketball matchups.
If you are angry at the number of bowls. Do yourself a favor. Turn off your TV and go about your busy life.

Our family has been to most of the bowl games the past 25 years (First bowl was 1995 Sun Bowl).
One of our favorites is the Outback Bowl, with Clearwater Beach, Ybor City parade, New Years Day game, etc., so that bowl will never get stale.
I'll always be "all in" for the Rose Bowl.
I was in Jacksonville a few years back, and it's not a great bowl destination and the stadium is in a dumpy area of town.
Had zero interest to go to the Pinstripe Bowl.
The Music City Bowl would easily scoop up Iowa this year.
Last year, they really wanted Iowa, but NW had 9 wins to Iowa's 7.
They knew that very few in purple would travel, but knew taking a team with 2 fewer loses would be unforgivable.
Need to trade the Pinstripe Bowl for the Las Vegas Bowl.

Rose: Ohio State wins out
Citrus: Penn State wins out
Outback: Northwestern (can't fall lower, if in B1G title game)

This year, the Purdue loss will cost us a Jan 1st Florida bowl.
These 3 are very interchangeable, which no Iowa to Pinstripe.
Even if Iowa goes 9-3, I still feel that that they will still be part of this bucket.
