Bohannon crow anyone?

I agree. It doesn't have to be your point guard that penetrates. If we have a 2 and a 3 that can get in the lane, having a 1 that brings the ball up the court and extends the defense is fine.

If the Hawks had one you wouldn't be so high on not having one. That said, this just might work for a lot of wins in the coming years.

No crow eating here... I have no idea where the thread is but in the thread discussing JBo's signing (in which several naysayers felt the need to go negative... big surprise) I told all y'all that I live in his area and had seen him play many times... and that in my opinion we got the best of all the Bo brothers. I stand by that. JBo will be All B1G before he's done.

Last night towards the final minutes when Purdue was looking to foul - I kept thinking "get it in Jok or Jordan's hands and we win this" ... I NEVER thought that about Mike. In fact the opposite. What a luxury to have someone as nails as this kid.
I agree. It's great when as a fan you "just know" this player is going to bury the shot. I would add Brady Ellingson as a third player I would want at the line during the last minute of play.

Bingo. Not to mention, we can run Bohannon off of screens as a two guard would on a few possessions a game to get him open looks. The true "PG" thing is a fallacy in my estimation.

I think we need a true PG defender more than anything. I believe Moss can fill that role as he has quicks. But it never hurts to have more than one player who has the quicks to defend a PG.

It's going to be hard to replace mike g on defense with a freshmen. I had faith that Bohannon could develop on offense. Just with how shaky he started I didn't think he would progress this quickly. He has stripped out bone headed passes from his game for the most part. But his confidence in his shot really helps him be looked to as a leader in crunch time.

Not sure he'll ever be a better defender than mike but excited to see what his offense develops into if he can improve at driving to the lane.

Actually, I think it is time to gut and barbecue Hawk 5656 and serve him as an appetizer along with the crow. Bohannon is going to be one of the all-time greats at Iowa. He is an assassin. Remember, he is only a freshman; his body will develop and he will get stronger as he matures, as Gesell did.
NNNNOOOOOOOO! Rancid meat for sure!

A 3 point threat really benefits this team right now. Over the last 4 years MG struggled with his outside shooting. Because of that defenses were able to sag off and clog the lane. This hurt us because Woody, Utoff, AW etc weren't able to post up. That wasn't a huge deal at the time because those guys weren't your typical back to the rim posts. So we made it work.

Now, Pemsl and Cook have the ability to post up and score. If you sag off of Bohannon, he hits a three. If you play his tight then he passes to Pemsl or cook. Spreading defenses is a good thing in all sports

Best 4* PG offensive rating, Jordan Bohannon is 9th out of 16 on this list. So 8 4* PG better offensively than him and 7 that are worse.

Markus Howard 130.0
Jared Harper 119.3
Anthony Cowan 114.6
Lamar Peters 114.6
Alterique Gilbert 113.1 ***** has only played 3 games.
Myles Powell 112.7
Payton Pritchard 108.6
Cassius Winston 106.3
Jordan Bohannon 105.5
Charlie Moore 101.2
Xavier Simpson 100.3
Jaylen Fisher 98.0
Tony Carr 96.3
Markell Johnson 94.0
Quentin Goodin 87.8
Carsen Edwards 94.3

Jordan is also 11th in PPG and 2nd in APG

I would have never predicted in a million years that Jordan would be leading all but 1 4* PG in assist, and be the 9th best 4* PG in ORate. He has been so much better than I thought he could be.

The craziest part is how good Jordan has been since conference play started. When most of these other PG are starting to wilt under better competition, Jordan is excelling. Here are the 4* PG Orate in conference games, as well as PER.

Markus Howard134.2 30.5 PER
Jordan Bohannon 124.1 16.8 PER
Jared Harper 121.4 22.3 PER
Payton Pritchard 118.1 12.6 PER
Anthony Cowan 110.8 15.8 PER
Lamar Peters 108.1 16.4 PER
Myles Powell 99.2 12.6 PER
Cassius Winston 97.0 13.5 PER
Tony Carr 95.6 11.2 PER
Markell Johnson 95.1 7.6 PER
Carsen Edwards 89.9 11.2 PER
Xavier Simpson 89.0 8.0 PER
Charlie Moore 88.9 8.1 PER
Jaylen Fisher 80.7 5.7 PER
Quentin Goodin 77.6 5.1 PER
Alterique Gilbert No conference stats

Jordan is the 2nd best 4* PG in Orate in conference play. He has the 3rd best made up stat in PER over that time as well. We all know that I don't believe in that made up PER stat, but for those who do, I would think that is impressive?

Great posts Deann. Basically what this says is John Belein's comment after the Iowa game was spot on. Jordan is playing as well as any other freshman guard in the country. Those stats prove it.

But, but, his PER! Nothing else for 56 to hold onto. He has officially fallen off the cliff.

Hold on, you forgot FAKE ASSISTS!!

He's already better as a freshman than MG was as a senior. Is there a stat for having ice in your veins? Eight of his 12 points vs PU were to take the lead or ice the game. None of those shots touched the rim. Don't look now. His defense is improving, too.

I wonder if Cytwins is over on the Cal board ranting about how Charlie Moore sucks. Never mind he is only obsessed with Iowa.
